I will bet you have a ram memory issue, meaning you are running out of ram. This is not unusual when running photo software. Once you run out of ram, the computer gets real slow, as it is caching to the hard drive, using virtual memory. This is slow. If you wait a minute or two, often times the cursor control comes back, and if it does, it is definitely a low ram problem.
I have an app on my Mac Pro called "FreeMemory". It is a small program that displays the memory available in your top bar, and has a feature called "freememory". With photo software, often times even though you close a picture, it is still sitting in active ram, so you will see you quickly start filling up ram with residual junk. Freememory will clear this junk without shutting down the computer, which without cursor is not easy to do, other than a hard shutdown, ie., holding down the power button until the computer shuts off.
My Mac Pro is old, only has 4gb ram, which is way too low for photo software. Even my I Mac, which has 16gb, periodically gets low on ram and slows down, or I lose the cursor, or get the wheel symbol showing the computer is thinking.
I am not sure if this is a problem with non-macs, aka pc's.

In this day and age of almost unlimited storage, shooting raw+jpeg makes the most sense. My camera does a good enough job with jpeg for most photos, but occasionally I use the raw shot and adjust the photo some.

Why are you waisting even one gram of brain matter on this topic. And if you interpret the constitution as you do, "it probably was thought at the time of the writing of the Constitution to be someone born of two citizen parents", then Ted Cruz is in the same camp, having been born with a Cuban father, and born in Canada.

But you can do what you want. Have fun.

I have quite a collection of lenses, some given to me, and I have to say, in almost every case the lower f-stop number the better. I invariably end up inside, or on a darker, cloudy day, and wish I had the better lenses. Now I do, and I don't regret it one bit. Obviously price is a big factor, but if you are a serious photographer, be it hobby or professional, I would rather get better lenses less frequently or not buy something else and get the best lens I can in each class. By the way, it does not always have to be a Canon or Nikon, Sigma makes some very good lens as well. I unfortunately do not have the 70-200. I have the 70-300, which is ok, but only good outside as it is f4. And yes, I would only buy IS.

The accusation is false. Yes, there are more children showing up at the border, but not because of some unfounded scandal . Of course if you are Republican, you will believe everything that people say as long as it degraded the President. I hope it doesn't happen, but if a Republican does get into the WH, you can expect a complete rejection of that person by the Democrats as you have against the current President. Blame Bush, remember?

Actually I disagree. Perhaps $15 is too high, but your notion that people are not worth $4 is your opinion. I used to work at McDonalds, way back in 1969. I busted my butt working behind the grill in the 10th busiest store in the country at the time. We did not have air conditioning in the store for the first couple of months, and I would typically lose 3 pounds of water in a given day. I would cook well over 1000 hamburgers an hour. I was paid $1.05 an hour.

To give you an example of the inflation impact, Gas cost about $0.28/gal, cigs under $0.40/pack. The price of these two items is at least 10 times that now, closer to 15, which would equate to an equivalent wage of between $10-15/hour.

And guess what, the stores thrived just fine at the wages rates back then. Why can't they do well now? Well, start with how much the executives of the company get paid. We tend to look just at the CEO's salary. But you have to really look at the franchise owner too. They get a bundle of money.

Yes, McDonalds is not a place to pay enough to keep a family out of poverty. It never was, never will be, but $7.50-$8-50 is not right.

OK, maybe it is 9 million, maybe 12. The fact is it is a large number. And if you don't like it, propose something new, oh, like a Medicare voucher program??? Great, so do you really think the Federal Government under Republican rule will actually give you vouchers to go buy Medical insurance after 65? Really? I highly doubt it, you will get nothing.

Unfortunately Mr. Dave Johnson, it is people like you who are putting false information into the system. If you would like to put data into the system, make sure you load up on the facts, not the propaganda from Fox News, paid for by the oil barrel huggers.

And where do you think all that natural gas is going to come from? From fracking new gas fields, and we all know how popular fracking is lately. So which do you want????

sorry to hear about the coal mining accident. In other related news, 200+ died in a coal mining accident in Turkey just yesterday, and they have several hundred still missing.

Coal mining is very dangerous, scores killed over the years, plus many with black lung. We had two uncles who were coal miners in western Pa.. Both died of black lung when they were in their 50's. I can remember them coming home from work, covered in black, face and all.

Absolutely go with the Mark III. I love mine. Yes, a lot more, but how often do you buy a camera? (famous last words, I have the Mark II, also 20D, also AE1, also a sony, also...).

I really like the dual memory card slot as this makes it easier to take jpeg and RAW at the same time but have them on two different cards. I also love the movie capability of the MKIII. Takes great movies when needed, which for me is not often, but great to have that feature. I don't know if the 6d had this.

I am not sure, but all the ink cartridges already have a tiny hole in the top. Peel back the label all the way, and you will likely find it. Canon and HP printers do. Then after filling, simply reseal the label after your wipe off the excess.
I don't always find the bulk ink works all that well. Most of the time it does, but then it gets streaky. I think there may be some drying out.
As for the low ink alert, interestingly the low ink alert for a cartridge will come on, I refill the cartridge, and the alert is still on. But then after a day or two, I happened to notice that some of the alerts have gone off. I simply don't pay any attention to the alerts, I refill when I think I have printed enough pictures to warrant a refill.

Takes a lot of time to delete pictures, particularly if you have several thousand. So, most of the time I simply don't bother deleting anything. I have well over 40,000 and my 3TB hard drive is less than 1/3 full, so there is no space incentive. That said, if I do have nothing else to do, I might take one days shoot and delete a few hundred.

I happened to live in the epicenter of Super Storm Sandy. After the hurricane, the National Guard (maybe the Coast Guard) flew drones with cameras to see where people needed rescue. The drones provided an invaluable first line of vision to the disaster areas, flying at low altitudes. Yes, could have done this with helicopters, but there are only so many of them to go around.

As for the media, well, is it really any different than a camera person standing on a street, or for that matter a person taking a picture from their cell phones and sending the pictures to You Tube.

People are getting really worked up over everything nowadays.
