A very interesting story indeed.
I to once had a wolf dog rescue, over 25 years ago. I got him when he was just an abandoned little puppy and named him Max. He was just a scrawny little thing when I got him and I wasn't sure exactly what mix of dog he was. That little guy could eat, and eat. The vet I took him to said he was a mix of Gray Wolf and some large breed of domestic dog, most likely German Shepherd.
I raised Max for two years but eventually had to find him a new home more suited to his nature. He was quite friendly but by nature he wanted to be outside. I also had two pet cats at the time and Max and the cats got along very well. I gave him to a friend who lived on a large tract of land outside Ashville NC where he lived to the old age of 13.

Most hobbies are designed to be expensive. Golf, fishing, photography, shooting, skiing, playing a musical instrument (unless it’s a washboard), horses, flying radio controlled planes, crafts such as woodworking. I guess a fixed income in retirement keeps us out of debtor’s prison.

I disagree. I don't believe hobbies are designed to be expensive although they certainly can be expensive. It depends on how much money you want to dedicate to your hobby. I use to fish quite a lot but I doubt if I've spent more than a few hundred dollars on gear over the years.
Unfortunately for me my hobbies are expensive. I really enjoy riding my motorcycle. I don't know if it's really a hobby. I've been riding motorcycles since I was 15, many years ago. Each new bike I got cost more than the one it replaced. I'm on my 4th touring bike, my 2nd Honda Goldwing and anyone familiar with Goldwings know how much they cost.

I need a 5DIV or a 5DSR, and 3 fast Canon primes, a 24-105mm L, and a 100 - 400L. Unfortunately my Santa doesn’t read UHH!

Do you really need them or just want them!?
I didn't buy my 5DSR or my 5DIV because I needed them. I bought them because of their features and capabilities. I didn't intend to get a 5DSR until I saw in person the mind boggling detail and resolution the camera is capable of. The 5DSR is a really nice camera but it's not intended to be a daily shooter. You can use it that way but it can be frustrating. That's why I got the 5DIV. It's not finicky like the 5DSR can be and its got 4K video frame capture. That's like having virtual 30 frames per second plus it has some nice features that I know I will use like built-in time lapse.

I hope I didn't scare Ozzie 2154 away. I love sunrise, sunsets. I thank you Ozzie for your post. Most are here to share tips and it's free. Good luck. David

Free tips are one thing and solicited tips are usually appreciated but a lecture is a whole different story. Not all photographs are intended to tell a story; for goodness sakes, it's a horizon set, something that occurs every day on this planet of ours, continuously. Sometimes a picture is just a picture.

I like my 50 megapixel 5DSR but it's not my main camera. My everyday camera is my 5DIV but if I'm going for birds in flight I will use my 7DII or my D500. My D7200 and my 50, 60 and 70D spend a lot of time on tripods doing timelapse projects. My 80D is my everyday crop sensor camera and it gets used a lot to record video. My 6D is my go to camera for low light situations. I didn't buy the cameras I have because I believed they would enable me to take better photos. I believe the knowledge in all my photography books and a lot of practice will enable me to take better photos. Learning what I can do with the different cameras is fun and learning how to use the different cameras is fun.
I like technology and I like having fun. I do this for fun, not for a living. I have a decent job that allows me to buy nice things from time to time but I have no plans to buy another camera any time soon, I'm still learning the ones I already have.

It's even more spectacular at night. I've been a member there for several years and have been going there since I was a child. I'm really hoping we have an unusually warm autumn and early winter here so they will operate the fountains at night during the Christmas season.
By the way, the original fountains were added to the Sylvan gardens in 1927 and the outdoor theater in 1928.

A nifty fifty isn't my idea of a macro lens. What's wrong with the cameras LCD monitor. You may also use an external monitor via html cable. You may also consider acquiring a camera with an articulated monitor.

nice shot.

As an aside, I often wonder why digital photographers mentioned 'cropped shot'. In film photography it was always the norm to crop a decent shot to make it even better (more interesting, show more detail, refocus attention, etc.). In digital photography it seems that folks are apologetic for cropping. Personally, i see no point in mentioning whether a photo is cropped or not. I have never heard a film photographer mention that a photo was cropped.

I think some people make note of it being a cropped image because in many cases cropping the digital image may amplify unwanted digital artifacts. I don't bother mentioning it's cropped because most of my cameras have between 20 and 50 megapixels so cropping isn't a big issue.

All you wanted to do was post a photo of a pretty horizon set and you got a full on lecture on what you did wrong and how to improve your photography and technique. My worthless 2 cents worth of cometary, nice snapshot, too much of one color but it is what it is. Since it is
a shot of the horizon, it needs to be level. I use the electronic level in my camera all the time because I'm terrible at keeping the camera level.
Welcome to the UHH, now you have an idea of why it's called ugly (hedgehogs are cute).
