Thanks for your input. I once used e-bay on a regular basis to buy and sell. However, over time, their policies, fees, and limitation of payment methods to basically PayPal, just did not settle well with me. I do use the site to get a rough idea of the market trends as far as prices are concerned. - James

What is the proper method to store a camera for a lengthy period of time and who, or what business, would be a good choice to maintain lenses? At what interval would maintenance be needed for amateur use? Thanks - James

No urgent need of money. It's just that due to my age, {I'm not quite ancient yet, but am working on it. :~)} I doubt that I'll use them again. I have a inkling to keep the Minolta 700 and Minolta flash though just so I'd have a film camera. - James

Thanks to everyone for your input. I realize that run of the mill used film equipment isn't worth nearly what it once was before the digital craze hit. However, being a traditionalist, I tend to appreciate the older, vintage, equipment more than possibly the average person. This is also reflected in my fishing equipment, (mostly 1950's - 1970's), Garcia Mitchell salt water rods & reels. To the far end of the spectrum, before I gave up deer hunting, and before there was a primitive weapons season in many states, I used a Thompson Center .50 caliber flintlock. It's just that my film equipment has not been used in such a long time, and I seriously doubt that it will be used by me in the future, that it is now time to "clean the closet" so to speak. Thanks again. - James

Hello - I'm a new member to the forum and have Nikon (FA-FM-FM2) & Minolta (7000, 700) film cameras, motor drives, various lenses, filters, aftermarket flash units that I would like to sell. My problem is that in the age of digital equipment I have absolutely no idea as to the worth of this older equipment. Any suggestions as to what would be a good approach to pricing and listing these items individually? I am only seeking fair pricing for myself and the buyer. Many thanks. - James

I have been using a Bogen/Manfrotto 3236 tripod with a B/F 3047 head since 2005 and have been very pleased with this set up. Only real complaint is the occasional slight downward drop of roughly 1/16 of an inch after cranking the shaft upward. - James

Thanks for the welcome. Come to think of it, I did have a Canon Rebel for a short time back in the late 90's. I just happened to have been offered a super deal on several Nikon body's (FM-FM2-FA), motor drives, lenses, & flash from a friend who was downsizing his equipment reserves and kept on down the Nikon path. My son ended up with the Rebel as a "freebie" from dad. ;~) - James

Welcome!

My wife and I shoot Nikon DX format on a D3200 body. Our next upgrade will likely be directly to the D7200, as it has the features we want and few of those we don't need. The Nikon DX cameras can be confusing - you can do side by side comparisons at this website to see what your priorities will cost.

The D7200 would be a possibility, however, I'm not sure that I could justify the cost verses the usage of a D750. In Recent years most of my work has been from a tripod, or at times from a mono-pod. Thanks for the welcome.

Hello and welcome here.
Have you ever given a thought to D7200 or D750? (Aps-c and full frame respectively).

I am an amateur photographer with 30+ years’ experience using Nikon equipment almost exclusively. However, I did begin pursuing my photography interests using a Minolta 7000 back in the late 1980’s and used primarily Minolta cameras until I switched to Nikon equipment in the mid-1990,s. I pursue photography strictly as a self-satisfying past time and have no ambition to achieve anything beyond that. However, I do strive to use the highest quality of equipment that I can afford. My main camera is a 2005 version of the Nikon D70s & SB-800 flash unit with a 2005 version of the 18-200m/m DX 3.5-5.6 lens. I also use a Bogen/Manfrotto 3218 monopod with a B/F 3028 head along with a B/F tripod which I do not have the number of it or the head since it is currently set up at church to take pictures for our member directory. I do plan to upgrade to possibly a D5600 body, (although it feels super light compared to my D70s & a bit cheap), and the NK2196 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions on my planned upgrade? - Thanks - James
