Okay...this is truly what nightmares are made of for this is what its prey sees in it final moments.

This is one of my preserved Bark Centipedes and it is slightly over an inch in size. I've found others that were nearly three inches so I assume this one is still a youngster.

This image showcases its forciples and mouth parts including the inner mount fangs. I've learned that the forciples are actually specialized legs and that they have holes in them to exude venom into the prey. Their pinch can really be quite nasty so my advice is to never pick one up...and if you do...this is what you are in for..!

As always, thanks in advance to all those who view and for your comments, suggestions, questions and critique.

I was at Sunset Marina in Rock Island and got these shots. Normally the eagles gather there just before it freezes and after the ice melts. There were 3 people ice fishing so maybe that attracted them; thinking they would get a handout.
The last couple shots are of an eagle perched only 15 feet off the ground. I was about 30 feet away when I took them. The last one is a vertical crop.

Excellent set!

Yesterday it was heavily cloud, later snow and shower/rain. Tried to search and take photos of sandhill cranes. Luckily I found a place where there are many of them. The place is close to Freetown towards Brownstown, Southern Indiana. Here are a few photos. Will go back when the weather is better. Thanks in advance for viewing!

This is a 10X magnified focus stacked view of my preserved Black Carpenter Ant's mandibles. I staged it for a session while I had the microscope objective and bellows system connected to the camera from the recent leaf and seed sessions that I posted.

This is a 298 image stack taken at 5-micron distance steps between shots. The completed stack of images were then processed in Zerene Stacker. The dark grey background is a result of some of the lighting reflecting due to the close proximity of the subject, lighting and objective before the lighting could fall off to infinity which is how black backgrounds are created.

As always, thanks in advance to all who view and for your comments, suggestions, questions and critique.

Taken with Nikon D850 and Nikkor 200-400mm F4 in last two days. This set has just been cropped slightly and reduced size to less than 5%. Received Nikkor 500mm F5.6E, PF recently. Trying to compare the new lens with the old ones I have. Both my Nikkor 200-400 F4 and Nikkor 800mm F5.6E still perform very well, except for the weight. Thanks for viewing and any comments in advance!

Shot these five in a row April 2018, my first year getting into the DSLR world and my first attempt at a composite. Started shooting with the cell phone 7 years prior. I still use my cell phone for closeups of insects, Ladybugs or smaller but the DSLR is it for me.

Super!
