I'm aware of the cost difference and when my wife wants to go get 300 4X6's processed it's off to Wally World, and believe me she does that on a regular basis. I wanted the printer so I have a little more control over my photos that I have sold in the past and I might try to do that again. If I can it'll pay for the ink.

To bad. I stumbled on it in another website and when I ordered it the $100 came up automatically.

I found it again, try this coupon code PRINTPRO100. See if it works.

Boy, I wish you had posted before purchasing! The Epson P600 is an amazing printer. I loved it as soon as I used it, but loved it even more when I didn't use it for a month and found that the next time I ran it it printed immediately and flawlessly. Good luck with your new printer.

I read up quite a bit on the Epson P600 and it was high on my list but the difference in price, I just couldn't pass up. If I don't like this one I haven't lost much so I'll sell it and move up later.

It's not their fault in my book the government lets them do it. They refuse to to backup the laws already on the books.

I have been agonizing on the purchase of a new photo printer. I was originally looking at the Pixma Pro 10 and 100 and also the Epson P600. I don't do a lot of printing and I'm not selling photos that much so I really didn't need anything in a production category but I didn't want a standard 4 color ink printer. Cost was a factor also considering this is my first printer like this that will be dedicated to producing photos. I was really in a quandary until today. I just found out that B&H had a $100 instant rebate on the Pixma Pro 100, plus, Canon has a $250 mail in rebate. Actual cost $49.00. I just couldn't pass it up.

I live in Tennessee and we have right to work laws here and that's also why so many large company's have been building new factories and distribution centers here at a much faster rate then in non right to work law states.
I agree with JCam, they can quit if they don't like it and I wouldn't trust Al Jazeera at all.

I concur with Mr PC, go with the Scandisk Extreme pro cards rated at 95Mp/s up and download they're great. I have yet to hit a slowdown in my 7200 buffer. It makes a world of difference.

This Tenba bag is one of the best bag's I have ever used and I've gone through a lot of bags. Unlike Domke like bags this is well padded and will protect your gear and also hold a good sized laptop or tablet along with your gear. You can get to your gear from the top of the bag without opening the flap and that makes it a lot easier on the run.

I use a 7200 and for what you are doing I would think it would be more than enough camera to fill your needs. The d700 would be heavier and bulkier to use.

Sorry but I'm a zoologist by training (a long time ago) and I always felt that I could gather a lot more data on an animal by watching it's behavior than I ever could by dissecting it. If you want DNA then capture one and do a swab, if you want to check out it's gut bacteria then collect a fecal sample. Then let the bird go.

I moved up from an old d5000 to a d7200 and I still use the 5000 occasionally. Can't beat the 7200 and the price difference isn't that different from the 5500. Point made earlier on lenses is good there are a lot of lenses out there that are inexpensive that don't have a focus motor in them that you will be able to use on the 7200 and won't work on the 5500 because the 7200 has a focus motor built into the body.
