I'm 66.just did the micro 4/3 olympus e-m1,e-m5. purchased used on ebay.low shutter counts.even with the battery grips, they are comfortable to handle.give em a look see.did the nikon thing for a while.too big, bulky. Was in the camera repair,buying/selling refurbished equipment.Nothing wrong with the big boys(canikon),some what overrated. Some people darn near worship these things.Have friends who think their Nk or Cn are the pinnacle of photo equip.Lots of fullfilling shots to be had with other choices.

Recently purchased my first real digital camera.Did lot's photography in the film days.Started in digital with a fuji x-s1.nice camera.Just picked up an olympus E-M1.Fantastic camera, mind boggling array of features.Having a blast figuring it out.Once you can focus on the main types of subjects that interest you,it can simplify the learning curve.photographing anything and anything can get overwhelming.narrow your focus a bit.

I'm a big fan of spectacular cloud formations.Even after the sun is gone i get some nice mono chromatic shots.I often see others photographing the same sunsets as me.soon after the sun is gone,so are everyone else.I get these natural B/W shots all to myself.New to this posting of pics online,so i don't have anything to show at the moment. Some of my shots are quite good if i say so myself. If you don't believe me,just ask me.

gun free school zones.what an assinine idea.past generations of kids brought guns to schools.growing up around responsible gun use creates proper respect for not only guns, but for life in general.fathers would not just let their kids grab the family gun and go off k*****g birds or other critters willy nilly. Hell no. they respect for life,be that of wild life r human life was instilled into them.were taught to hunt only what was needed.

thats because schools are gun free zones, which make them shooting galleries for some nut jobs who are not wired right.you don't see this behavior by responsible gun owners.I know a number of gun owners who in a million yrs. could not even fathom doing such a thing. In every school shooting, the perp is found out to be some sort of mental case.We as americans put a high value on life.this kind of abhorant behavior is completely out of the norm of 99.9% of people.

not to nit pick, but aperture blades run dry.only only place grease is used is the focus and or aperture rings and the inner focusing tube.that grease is pretty thin so it can evaporate quite easily.

use to be a camera repair tech.Good quality digital cameras can take a pretty good temp.swing.The real problem is in the lenses. All lenses have at least a focus ring.that ring has a helical thread used to ,guess what? focus.that helical has grease on it.extreme heat can cause some of that grease to evaporate onto the aperature blades. When that happens the blades stick together.Expensive repair, not fun.I have fixed many in the past. But more embaresing is that I did it to myself on one of my own cameras.Just be careful where you leave your equipment.

I use to be a camera repair tech.that front element is 2 lenses glued together with a clear glue that is activated by infrared light i.e. sunlight.the glue is available, but not too easy to find.It is possible to separate the elements ,but no guarantees that you won't break one of the elements.I was moderately successful.(young and brave at the time)Ended up sending them back to canon for repair. You can't just find another similar lens and do a swap.when lenses are assembled, they are calibrated.putting another replaceable lens on will look good, but the resulting images will likely suffer.
