Gimp is a good free photo editor. Also, Google's Picassa is very good and easy to use. Also free.

Dave, all in all it turned out great either way. I like the idea of the window frame being a part of the photo itself. I'm wondering if you can send it to another photo lab who will print it the way you intended. In any event, it's a wonderful photo, one I'd be proud to hang on my wall. And a great shot of the deer as well. :)

Is it me or does the real wooden frame hide the photo of the frame? Or is what appears to be a wooden frame actually a part of the photo?

What's a good place to rent a lens? I need one quick for a shoot. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Depending how scrupulous you are, you could buy one from Best Buy and return it. (Not too serious about that idea.)

I would nix this idea. Best Buy has a horrible return policy. And they charge a restocking fee.

Adorama rents lenses. I've never rented from them personally but they advertise it quite often.

I am personally considering that Tamron lens. It's not the fastest, but since I shoot mostly outdoors, it seems like the perfect fit. And for those few times I might be using it indoors, I can bump up the ISO to compensate. F3.5 isn't bad on the short end and there's a rebate on this lens currently. So now is the time to get a great price on it. :)
