Does anyone have experience with this camera? I would appreciate comments pro and con. Thanks.

I was also interested & rented the RX10 VII to take to Costa Rica, leaving my A7iii at home (I don't have a really long lens). I was disappointed, at the long end, I got very soft photos. Low light was bad, but I had anticipated it might be a challenge in the rain forest. On the other hand, it was good at medium range. And it was very convenient on the trip - no lugging around a big rented lens.

But on our Alaska trip this summer, I'll be renting a 200-600 and figuring out how to lug it around...

Photo below is at 200 mm and cropped.

I'm curious as well. I met a couple over the weekend out shooting birds - she had the 100-400 with a 1.4 and he had the 200-600. They claimed the 100-400 had sharper photos, but the reviews I've read online suggest maybe not. I'm also curious about how the Sigma 150-600 compares. Hopefully you get some real world examples! Thanks!

When talking used cameras/lenses, don't leave out Roberts - UsedPhotoPro.com. They're right there in the league with MBP, B&H etc. They currently have a D610 body for $549.

[quote=tomad]I toured with 3 companies ...

THANKS SO MUCH! I've copied your info into my Antelope Canyon file. Interesting that you used the Sony RX10 ... I rented one for Costa Rica and didn't like it much, but your photos prove that my initial observations might be wrong!!! THANKS again!

Awesome shots! For those of us that haven't made it to Antelope Canyon yet, I know the main tours have eliminated photo tours. You indicate a private canyon/tour company. Can you share the operator that allowed you to make these incredible shots? I'd like a chance, but it sounds like the public tours aren't going to allow tripods. Thanks!

Oh my ... Yosemite has long been on my bucket list and your photos are moving it up on the list! THANKS for sharing. For those of us that live elsewhere and have to plan a bucket list trip, what would you recommend as a favorite month to shoot Yosemite?

Good job! How exciting! We watched from Florida's central west coast - fun seeing the solar orbiter go up - even from far away. But someday I want to see one closer! I saved your settings for that day! Thanks!

Well shot! Add a little fill-flash and bingo!!!! I do a lot of automobile related photography and really enjoy when a photographer, such as you, really “get” the shot! Your eye for detail spins a wonderful yarn for the viewer’s mind to imagine and play with. .... Good work!

THANK YOU so much! I'm trying to "learn to see" and the car show was a challenge.

Thanks too for the CC "add a little fill flash". My Sony A7iii doesn't have a flash. I've been debating getting a small off camera flash - I'm trying to anticipate where it might have made a better photo. I would not have considered using it here, but looking back at the photos, I can see your point. Of course, I also want a couple of lenses and don't have an unlimited budget. :) Decisions decisions....
