Thanks to all who replied and for the recommendations for books.

I must admit, When I got the Nikon P1000 and felt the heft & weight, I wondered if I'd made a blunder ordering a Manfrotto Befree tripod.

But it is pretty solid even with the lens fully extended.

Now I need to learn the basics. The 'Sunny 16 Rule', F. Stops, ISO, Shutter Speed etc.

Are there any good books you chaps could recommend please ?

Hi,

I just purchased my first camera, a Nikon P1000 and a Manfrotto Befree tripod.

I have no idea what I'm doing.

My interests are mixed. Some wildlife, moon and general photography.

Hopefully I can learn something here.
