So cool, Cybermomm! What lens did you use? Great pictures.
The first two were taken with a Nikkor 105mm macro lens, the second two with a Nikkor 70-300mm telephoto lens set just short of 300mm.
A baby hummingbird was blown out of its nest by high winds a couple of days ago. The neighbor picked it up, put it in a basket lined with soft tissue, and began to watch over it. The mother hummingbird began to make regular trips, every 15 minutes or so, to feed her baby. The neighbor allowed me to sit in her car in the driveway and shoot the pictures out of the car window in order to keep from scaring the mother away. The baby is only about an inch long. It opens its mount wide as soon as the mother shows up.
Nice shots! Costa Rica is on my bucket list of places to see. You're very blessed to have had the opportunity to travel there.
Thanks, everyone, for the nice comments. Here's another composite from the same storm.

Nice shots. Did you catch these randomly or use a lightening trigger. If you used a trigger, which one?
Thanks
I just caught these randomly, using a remote shutter release. I have a Strike Finder trigger, but have never been able to get it to work.
Some parts of Albuquerque got drenched, while other parts didn't get a drop. This picture was taken from the upper deck of a building down the street from my home. The lightning was about 20-25 miles away, clear to the west of town. The first 3 are straight out of the camera. The 4th one is a composite.
The second one is outstanding! Would you mind sharing your camera settings, please? I have a Strike Finder Pro and have had absolutely no luck getting it to work. It will release the shutter if I shine a flashlight right into the lens at close range (a few inches), but doesn't have enough sensitivity to get lightning some distance away, even when the sensitivity dial is set to the highest number. Any help will be appreciated!

Beautiful sky, cute puppy! Stella looks like she'll be a handful when she grows up.
She's already a handful. 7 lbs. of pure terrorist! :)
Maybe we should put her on the border?
Took the combined tips from this forum and tried again. Turned out better this time. Thanks again!
Yesterday evening I tried photographing my little puppy running toward me down a golf course fairway. Am having trouble keeping the subject in focus. Anyone out there who uses a Nikon D300 have any suggestions for settings for photographing moving objects coming TOWARD you? I had to use a wide aperture and consequently shallow depth of field because of the lighting at the time of evening. The camera is set at continuous al-servo with spot metering.
Thank you, everyone, for the nice comments. Really appreciate it!
Thanks for your input, everyone. Really appreciate it. I'll keep trying different things.
