If people wish to know something, they ask. Now, to members who have been here longer than a hot minute, many of these things may be old hat. If they get perturbed by someone asking a question that they, in all of their blessed holiness and superiority know, then a select few get all indignant. Forgetting the simple fact that the person wouldn't have asked if they did not know.

Yes, you can search the archives. And, as someone pointed out in the link reference by CHG CANON, the UHH search engine is not always hitting on all 8 cylinders, and I myself have searched subjects not to find anything, only to have it referenced later. And yes, a person with a question might search Google first. But I think many look for some connection, some fellowship with another photographer(s). Oh, woe is the poster who asks a question that has an obvious answer! Woe, indeed!

The point has been made previously: if I am not interested in the subject, I simply do not open it. I am guessing that some people here (noting their age in particular) have nothing to do and all day to do it. Therefore, they fill their days letting the lesser of us among them know their position of superiority and share with us their utter disdain. It seems like it happens on

Every

Single

Forum

But ESPECIALLY on photography forums.

I was once on a forum for Insurance Agents. The older members felt they had privilege since they had been there so long, and any opposing viewpoint or suggestion of a new way to make a sale, gather prospects, etc. were vociferously shouted down. These members had their clique and did not really welcome new participants. I did not know for sure, but I had my suspicions the ADMIN was in that group. So new members left nearly as soon as they appeared. At the time, I was a new agent and wanted to learn as much as possible, but I quickly learned to keep my mouth closed. However, if only the same viewpoint and technique is ever shared, it only takes a couple of generations for the entire group to become retarded from this inbreeding.

The ADMIN needs not appoint a "Topic Policeman/woman" here...a plethora of same already exists.

I have a photo taken of our younger daughter when she was in 7th grade...Molly's team won this time 2-1 - with Molly scoring both goals - but that photo captures a special moment, even though it was on a lonely spot ..... not on a college field in front of thousands of fans.

I think you should post it

All I know is my first flat screen. a Toshiba, was $2200... And I only got that price because we went to high school together... The retail was $2999.

The second one cost $399, and it was a larger screen and HD.

I am a fan of Tim's. While I do not love every image posted, that is to be expected. He is highly creative, completely fearless, and unafraid to experiment and go far beyond the norms. His technical skills are also sharply honed.
He seems to have more than his share of detractors... Not sure why. Jealously, perhaps?
How many of these critics have ever photographed a woman partially clothed, let alone nude? It's not easy. They's much more to it than saying. "Ok, get your clothes off," and then firing away. Well, perhaps a pornographer can do that, but rarely an artist.

Then, of course, we have our prudes, who decry any image including nudity. But those will always be around. I wonder if they complain to security when they tour a museum? I can only imagine.
I applaud Tim and always look forward to viewing his work and reading the backstory.

In early 2000, half the tech companies in the world went belly up (as they should have) - you should have stuck with Amazon 😸. So, no MAJOR cloud provider has ever gone belly up, with or without notice.

Read carefully: I used these as a redundant backup to Amazon. Still have Amazon, never got rid of it. Also have dropbox, iCloud, OneDrive, Google Drive. And the one that went away with notice was like one of the pioneers of free cloud storage. I THINK it started with a "T", just canNOT remember. And they were pretty major...they just couldn't transition from free to paid service.

I cannot remember the names of the two I had that went belly up in the early 2000s. One gave 15 days notice, but the other one was simply...GONE! I used them as a redundant source for amazon cloud

I depend on outboard hard drives for storage. Why? Go outside, today is a cloudy day, no hint of blue in the sky, just grey. Then tomorrow, it's all gone, all blue. That's what can happen to cloud storage.

And don't get your panties in a wad, it has happened.

Plus I think it kills birds and causes cancer.

I do NOT recommend Carbonite unless they have improved from when I had them. You had to check your photos to be backed up, the restore process took about two years (ok, I exaggerate, but it took forever--I half expected for Jesus to return before this completed), and it STILL missed files and some were corrupted. I stopped using them
