1. Hold the steering wheel at the 8 and 4 positions. This prevents injury to your fingers, hands and arms if the airbag deploys. It's also more restful for your arms because they're not up high on the wheel. I have seen videos of police driving this way, so I'm not the only one. I have also seen recommendations for 9 and 3.

2. Open the driver's door with your right hand. When you do this, the door doesn't open as far, which is good if there is a bike or car passing by.

I can agree with that. I was taught 10 and 2. I drove like that for 50 years (except when I was hotrodding my Road Runner. No air bags). I had an accident with my van and the airbags went off. Beside the impact of the bag cold cocking me and knocking my glasses to the back of the van, it left bruises all over my forearms and indescribable pain. Please drive with 8 and 4 to avoid the pain I went through.

Yes. And the birds that sang in the trees in "Song of the South" were stapled to the trees. And it apparently turned out that his "Wild Kingdom" series of wildlife movies were taken in zoos. If this stuff is true, he was not the Mr. Nice he had been thought to be.
Wow, what a compelling indictment of a show that Disney had nothing to do with. I reckon that Marlin Perkins made Jim wrestle a crocodile in a zoo. I suspect that while you don't think crows could sing in the tree tops, you believe that elephants can fly. So let's get something straight. First off: How do you propose that we see how voles or desert rats burrow and birth their young? Dig a hole and put glass and hope for the best. Zoos already do that.

Granted, Disney was a misogynist and a bigot, he brought reality through fantasy to the few that could see it. Even the Song of the South had life's lesson spelled out. Uncle Remus may or may not have been a slave, but he taught his students well. What more do you want? I didn't see any racism in this movie. I see a man doing his job of baby sitting the white folks children. I have to do my job every day. I babysit white and black folks 80 hours a week.

Right. I could never understand why they use big stars for the voices. I usually can't even tell who's doing the voices, so why not hire actual voice actors? They're less expensive, and they need the work.

I'm guessing that the idea here is: You can't sell Joe Blow the unknown actor but can sell Tom Hanks the well known actor. I saw Hanks in a couple of movies...but Mr. Blow? Did he have a bit part in Dirty Dancing or something?

Supposedly, we males are missing the gene to allow us to execute this task - I certainly am. Just curious if there’s a male member on the forum that can accomplish this feat.

Folding fitted sheets is easy. I just roll them up and stuff them in a matching pillow case. As for pressing, well that is a little harder. I take them out of the pillow case and put them on the bed. Viola, wrinkles gone until I lay myself down for the night. Amazingly, I've never had anyone ever look in my linen closet and tell me I did it wrong or that my sheets were to wrinkled to sleep on. Although, once I had a princess that complained about a pea in the mattress pad.

I reckon I'm not too informed. Does a light switch or a dirty baseboard snatch your eyeballs away from a pretty model's tits. I can see it doesn't bother you enough not to look. If it were a real criticism of the photography and not the context I could see that. It isn't. It is a stodgy, old man, I can't get it up because of this or that. Tattoo? Oh no it was there and gone. Sorry, I'm a bit down with holiday shoppers. They have drained all my Christmas spirit and then I come to more of the same old crap here.

It seems that your concept of 'story' and mine are somewhat different than each other. I wouldn't know about where or how you got yours, Spike, but if publication and/or what I've been paid is an indicator, I'm a much better essayist than I am a storyteller.

Beyond that, I know very little about tigers (and less about ladies), but I did in fact (admittedly, some years ago) see a mountain lion very near to the spot I stopped to shoot #4. So there's that amount of agreement between us...?

In spite of not being paid for it, you are an excellent storyteller. Usually, your narration sets up the expectation of what we will see. Sometimes, we all fall short. Not everything that Hemingway or that other guy that writes stuff was a gem. The photography furthers the story and the story is the photograph. Who could ask for more?

There must be an episode of "Gilligan's Island" where the professor makes a camera out of a coconut.....
I'm sure the Professor could have enabled Gilligan to get an erection with a coconut. Gilligan meandered on the Island all that time and never got any from Mary Ann or Ginger or Mrs. Howell. The Professor was holding out on the boy.

In 1977 I purchased my first SLR. Since there wasn't an internet for information I wasn't aware of the photography mindset/atmosphere of that time period amongst professional photographers. I thought it would be interesting to hear from photographers who were active in that time to share what it was like.

It's not important since it was over 40 years ago; just idle curiosity.

Way back in the 70's and 80's most movies and TV shows portrayed photographers as serial killers and rapists. Imagine trying to book Senior Portraits after Sonny Crockett arrests a photographer who not only rapes and kills but also deals drugs. Will the photography horror never end? I'm sure it was going on longer. Hollywood in infinite wisdom chose to shoot down the folks that made people want to see their movies. I was trying to remember some movie or show where the cake decorator did it. I'm old, perhaps senile. Damit I forgot what I was trying to say.

[I think subscription plans are just beginning to get started. We're doomed.[/quote]

Thanks, Adobe.
There have been subscriptions long before Adobe did it. In fact, before Adobe was thought of. If you got magazines in your mail, it got there by subscription. If you had cable, electricity or gas, it was by subscription. All of us that got Roku or Hulu on computers, to cut back on cable bills got a rude awakening. Now to get what you want to watch costs nearly as much as cable and it is rising.

I love these photos. They make me sad, sometimes. My dear ol' daddy got rid of so many great cars. I had a pretty nice 55 Chevy, It had every option available. There was a sweet Studebaker with a supercharger . So many old Buicks. I loved they all had really shitty batteries and they would hit no matter how cold it was. Wish my new cars were so capable. These cars were junk and hazardous by today's standards.
I really don't want to get into the "Good ol' days. It's just an example of the waste we seem to accept.

So this Guy/Gal Showed up again at my Bird feeder

My Black Squirrel

Not the sharpest but I like it

EOS R RF 800 mm, ISO 500 (too low/slow I think) , f /11....(only option) speed 1/40 (way too slow)

Why all these mistakes..I was in hurry to get the shot, I missed him/them the other day, he /they left before i could get my camera and be ready for shot!
I think the squirrel was screwing with you. Their rat like minds say, "You think I'm funny? I'm clown?..." Next thing you know they are shooting at you.

Some illusions we do not need to know... Your card is "Hallmark" worthy. Do you remember when there were card shops? If you bought a Hallmark Card, then "you cared to send the very best."
Now it's pretty much you cared enough to empty your checking account.
