Nice combination and upgrade. I have no interest in mirrorless either as what I have is so familiar to use.

I use Reikan Focal as well and calibrate every lens to every body. It definitely makes a difference

I live up north where 34 degrees would be a hot winter day. I shoot snowy owls regularly at -30 and cameras and lens are at this temperature as well. Never had an issue with batteries or camera or lenses. (Canon as well)

A little Retail Therapy goes a long ways. I shoot Canon, but if I was switching systems the D850 would be my only choice.

There is an app called Transfer that works well and is bidirectional. Can create albums etc on iPhone and transfer either direction over wifi

It would actually be nice to have it very stiff so once it's set it would not change by rubbing on it. I would adjust it with whatever you used to get it moving and then leave it alone

The 10-22 on the APS-C gives the same field of view as the 16-35 on FF. I assume that is how they originally decided on the 10-22 range so the same view from both options

If you want a wide angle lens that can be used on FF as well, then the 11-24 L will work but is very $$$. I would recommend the Canon 10-22 or 10-18. They can be picked up used at a good price can be sold later if you decide to move to FF. I have the 11-24 and the 10-22 and both are very good image quality

Try out the Canon 10-22 lens. As long as you don't angle the camera up or down, there is no noticeable distortion. And ultrawide angle lens will show converging or diverging lines if you don't shoot with the camera level. Other option is tilt shift such as TS-E 17 mm

I calibrate every lens and teleconverter combination to every camera I have. I do it at both ends of zoom lenses. I tried the various sloping rule and target approaches but was not happy with the subjective results. I switched to Reikan Focal several years back and you soon realize why analysis of single shots with a sloping scale do not work very well. With reikan it takes target images and and analysis each for image quality. It takes several at each microfocus point and it the lens has focus consistently issues then it will take additional samples until it builds the required statistical
Accuracy needed. It then moves on to the next microfocus point. It graphs this in real time as it does it so you can see what the image quality is at different MFA. It will also step through every F stop and plot IQ so you have a graph of how your lens performs on that camera at different f stops. A beautiful thing

My advice is don't do friends weddings. They usually are asking you because they can get a "deal". I have done weddings for 5 friends and have never had them cough up the $ yet. Maybe I have poor marketing or bad friends or need to find a bill collector with a baseball bat?

I started with Lexar because I got some good deals. Had soft cards failure on one card where the camera would keep trying to write to it. Switched to Sandisk extreme pro and will use nothing else now. Won't be buying any more Lexar, especially since they were bought by a Chinese company.

That is nice they go through the explanation of how they senscthe lens back to Japan and refurbish then. The kicker is the refurbished lens is $1400 and a new one is $1600 so who would buy a used lens for $200 less. So the point it this this a disposable lens

I agree. I will not support a company that sells cameras and lens as disposable items. I just sent in a 1993 vintage 50mm lens to Canon for repair. 1 week door to door and $135 including all shipping etc.

Before you buy the Panasonic 100-400 you might want to know that this is a disposable lens. If it quits or gets damaged, you basically have to buy a new one. See the discussion at. https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-558950-1.html
