I agree the majority are either not pertinent or wonder far from the original post, BUT the fact remans, there are many very interesting reply's. I personally learned a lot and I believe found the answer to my initial post!!!!
No there is a highly scientific statement.
I agree on the polarizing filter. I bought a Marumi exus clear filter based on an earlier lazar test. The idea of a polarizing filter that lets more light in sounds like a great idea. I will check the ones you suggested. I would be interested in how you like the K&E brand. Thanks for you input
After reading all of the "I love my filter" statements I must say that the lazar test report is the first time I have seen a real attempt at a scientific evaluation of the question. Thank you for finding that.
Thank you I will check them

Why do you all insist using a UV filter when you really need a ND 0 filter? (The real 'clear filter')
All lenses are already treated against UVs.
I cannot find ND 0 filter. B&H does not list them.
I am using a uv filter for lens protection. I just do not want to compromise image quality in doing so. I will look at the B+W and sigma ceramic filters. Thanks
Thanks for your input!!! I do not understand what justifies the the difference in price between a $30 and a $200 filter. It must be the coating's and if so, does it have a measurable effect on image quality? I am leaning toward the $30 version.
Am looking for advise on filters. There is a very large variance in prices of filters and looking for advise on which ones to purchase. I have checked "search" and have seen advice on which brand to purchase and most recommend the expensive brands but am not sure why. Is there really a large difference in filters that justifies the price disparity ie $10 to over $200? I have just purchased a Canon 24-70 f2.8 l lens and do not want to put the wrong filter on this high quality lens. Thanks for your input.
Thanks for the input. I will try search.
You, I can tell would be the exception!!! It was just a suggestion didn't mean to rune any bodys day!!!!
I am using windows and am not sure how to check exif.
But a learning process. If nothing else it helps to evaluate equipment.
There are many great pictures show here. I for one, would gain a lot of learning from the exhibitors here if they would include technical info with there photo's. ie camera model, lens used, camera settings. etc. I know it would be a lot of trouble but it would be a great benefit to us armature shooter to have this info. Maybe the system could provide a form to fill out, when loading a photo, to expedite the process. Just a suggestion from an avid user. Thanks for letting me vent!!!
