Tight budget, so I join the hordes looking for a decent deal on a decent lens.

I am an amateur photographer and I mostly shoot in low light musical events with messy backgrounds and moving subjects. I definitely need image stabilization so the Canon lens is out for me. I use a Canon 80D DSLR.

I have been told by my retired professional photographer friend that this is the lens I need.

Any assistance in this effort would be graciously appreciated.

I know you mentioned Tamron but here is something you may want to consider

Do you have a Canon EOS now? Why are you asking about a body for an unrelated system? It's worthless without a lens / lenses. What do you plan to shoot? Same focal lengths, different systems? Are you an aspiring collector or a photographer? Your earlier post said a EOS 5DIV was out of your price range. Now you can afford a duplicate system? Your priorities seem to be messed up.

Listen to the advice this man has to offer. He may seem a little rough at times but I promise you he is correct. If you have the money and want full frame then stick with the Canon 6D markii and put more money into your lens selection. If you have several lenses and just want to switch brands then your going to take a hit trying to sell the lenses to replace with a different brand. I own a Canon 6D MarkII and I love it. But the camera is only as good as the glass you put in front of it

I havnt seen any portrait studio or wedding photographer using a crop sensor body so I’m sure there is good reasoning for them to be using full frame

I shoot small groups (2 to 6 people) indoors once a year for my wife's alumni banquet. I use a canon sx20 is. Last year I put on a shoe flash pointed up to disperse some light, but it made heads light on top, dark on bottom. So Ive bought a cheap $50 umbrella light kit on Amazon. The continuous lights aren't very bright, using white through or black with silver reflector. The bulbs are 45 w florescent. My question, is there a better bulb for these? I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars to take 30 pictures once a year. So far I get the best using these and my flash set lower, pointed straight on. But the flash shows up in peoples glasses.

You may also buy a soft box for the speed light. I use mine when I’m shooting with flash mounted to camera and flash pointing mostly toward the client. If you have a stand then use flash off camera and a white bounce card with flash pointing straight up. You will have to take a couple test shots adjusting the distance between subjects and flash

I want to thank all who sent in their ideas and opinions. It looks like I will be signing each one as they are sold. Voted unambiguous from the readers here

I really cannot offer any professional advice on your above inquiry concerning the "Signing" of your beautiful Landscape photos, since I am only an "Advanced Amatur" and have no specific knowledge concerning this subject.

I am currently trying to decide whether to start adding a watermark to my photos or simple signing them personally the ones that are either sold or given away. Currrently i have been in two different galleries as an upcoming amatuer photographer and just aquired a full wall at a third gallery and four spots in the next years state fair. I have sold several landscape photos at these galleries and currently have been personnal signing each photo with either a gold or silver paint marker pen. To me this just makes the photo seem more personal for the buyer however they have to wait sometimes a week or two for me to sign the photo since my actual job takes me out of town each week. Looking for everyones opionon or other ideas if they have any?

Thank you Lord for Telephoto lens. Wouldn’t want to be that close to something as aggressive as they are and packing a mean bite

Ha Ha , thank you . It's a type of shad though

Actually it’s what they call the American Shad. Or if you live in the south Gizzard Shad. There are a few who will clean them and grind them up into a Patte to eat with crackers which wasn’t to bad but not a favorite. We use the internals for fishing catfish in the local rivers and lakes in SC.
It is a really great shot

If I’m not mistaken those were actually piling from an old cannery that use to be there they are used to guid the boats in and stabilize them when docked. I’ve actually done some scuba diving around those and the rock wall next to the current landing some years back. Beautiful coloring under the water there and lots of great sea life along the rock wall as well.
