Ok. This is a follow-up post. I got a lot of great feedback on my previous post for suggestions for my first full frame camera. Many of the suggestions were for mirror-less. I have changed my opinion on mirror-less, but have decided to stay with DSLR. I am still stuck on the Canon 6D Mark II, but I would like some crossfire from those that like Nikon. Let's go with pros and cons 6D II vs. Nikon D750! Go!

P.S. I shoot mainly nature landscape and wildlife, but am really interested in lightening, star trails and lunar photography.

Years ago, when I shifted to digital photography, I was set on a Canon EOS 20D. When I went to my local camera store to buy it, the sales guy suggested that I look at a Nikon D200 before surrendering my hard-earned cash. I did, and discovered that for me, Nikon's layout and menu structure made much more sense. So that's the direction I went, and I've been very happy with my choice.

I also do night sky photography and have participated in two workshops, where I learned two different approaches to that discipline. In both workshops, it was very apparent that the Nikon users had a much easier time accomplishing the techniques than those using other cameras. Those workshops were in 2018 and 2019. Participants had everything from the latest models to models as much as 3-5 years old.

I know that a lot is written here about the high ISO capability of the D750, but I find that D850s, D810s, and even D500s are much more common among the outdoor nighttime folks. I suspect that is because of the built-in intervalometer functions in those cameras. Don't know if we will start seeing D780s or not.

Best wishes as you continue to research, shop, and decide.

I have many DSLR's and Mirrorless Nikons. I would recommend the D850 or D780. I tend to favor the DSLR's but the Z6 is an incredible camera.

See this is the new one coming out in Nikon, they also have d760 with some of the Z6 features I think. Just check them both before you decide, no harm in getting all the knowledge on their site.

Featuring our most powerful autofocus system to date, the full-frame flagship D6 comes equipped with an all-new high density, all cross-type and fully selectable AF sensor and Nikon’s latest image processing engine. Find out what makes this fast action, 14fps camera the new choice for the toughest of assignments.

Maybe you should pick some that are actually comparable, these two models are like apples to oranges, the D 750 is in a whole other class, compared to the low-end 6D II !

Do you have a Canon EOS now? Why are you asking about a body for an unrelated system? It's worthless without a lens / lenses. What do you plan to shoot? Same focal lengths, different systems? Are you an aspiring collector or a photographer? Your earlier post said a EOS 5DIV was out of your price range. Now you can afford a duplicate system? Your priorities seem to be messed up.

I do have a Canon now, but it is APS-C format. Any full frame I go with will require different lenses. The price range I am looking at includes lenses (or at least one lens for now).

Do you have any Canon FF lenses that you need to carry over? If not, then I concur with the suggestion of trying them both and seeing which you prefer, especially menus and controls. Another thing that might drive your decision is the equivalent lenses (and cost) of each in the ranges you think you’ll need. Although the high ISO/low light performance of the cameras are equal, the D750 has 2 stops better dynamic range and dual card slots. You might want to take a look at this comparison: https://cameradecision.com/compare/Canon-EOS-6D-Mark-II-vs-Nikon-D750

Listen to the advice this man has to offer. He may seem a little rough at times but I promise you he is correct. If you have the money and want full frame then stick with the Canon 6D markii and put more money into your lens selection. If you have several lenses and just want to switch brands then your going to take a hit trying to sell the lenses to replace with a different brand. I own a Canon 6D MarkII and I love it. But the camera is only as good as the glass you put in front of it

So, I went back through more of your posts, something I hadn't done before posting above. You quoted a few conflicting priorities: wildlife, landscape, full-frame and a $2000 budget. What you really want to do is simply put down the full-frame koolaid. You'd be better served buying EF lenses, not FF bodies with no lenses / one lens. I didn't see in a scan of your posts what lenses you already have so it becomes difficult to identify the best ideas.

Another idea would be to post some example work and start a discussion of your current work and ideas to better leverage your current equipment, where applicable.

There's nothing this site likes better than spending other people's money, if you're into that kind of peer pressure ...

I am looking to upgrade to full frame for the low light performance. An EF lens on a crop sensor camera will not improve performance in the areas I am looking to upgrade. I can get a used 6D mkii with a 24-105mm lens for around $900 and have room to purchase another lens. I am focused on the Canon, because of my familiarity with the controls and interchangeability of accessories like remote shutters and trigger devices that I currently have. I am not ruling out Nikon because of the fact that I will need to buy new lenses either way and I am looking to see if there are enough pro's to push me to make the switch. I like other Nikon products, but so far, from the comparisons that I have read, the Canon way outperforms the Nikon. Canon features that i like: fully articulating LCD screen, NFC and Bluetooth, GPS (not a deal breaker), higher cross-type AF points, higher resolution and processor speed.

If you'll consider some additional advice, you'd steer clear of the original EF 24-105L, and instead get the EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM. About the same price new as the used 105L and everywhere as sharp as the older L. And most importantly, features a lock that holds the lens closed during travel that is a weakness and common area for expensive breakage & repair of the older L lens. With the money saved, you can maximize that second lens decision or use on other critical accessories such as a quality tripod or software / hardware upgrades.
