For anybody who uses any "free" online storage systems then I consider you to be "idiot optimists". By all accounts then are 100,000's of you who use these services for storage and archive purposes. What is wrong with you ? Do some simple maths. Calculate out how many of you there are. Multiply by an average amount of storage used. And do you seriously think that a company is going to provide millions of TBs free plus the overhead of looking after it ? And do you seriously think that they are also going to provide 2 x millions of TBs to cover backup purposes ? Forget RAID as a method backup storage. The only safe place to archive or store anything is your place - at least you have some control over it.

Thank you for the insult. Wow, some people here are so rude.

Hopefully not your only archive.
While the cloud is convenient, it is not, in my opinion, suitable for primary backup. Secondary backup OK.

Photos can be useful for some months, but a forever archive isn't necessary. A thousand can be a little too restrictive though. Google photos is what I'm moving to. We haven't had this change announced over in the U.K. to my knowledge, but of course it will happen. It will be sad though to lose all the older material.

SmugMug is an awesome service. I'm happy to pay for it. I pay for Backblaze, and Adobe Cloud, too. Free stuff? Boohoo for for grieving freeloaders, I say! Too bad, so sad, for Flicker users. "Free" is another word for "strings attached." Yes, when "free" is freely offered, I take advantage, too. But I know, there is always "cost" involved, somehow, someday. I will eventually pay. Flicker Payday has arrived.

Free loaders? You clearly have no consideration for other people's needs. Please see my post prior to this one.

I don't find 1000 images confining for a free account. Others I'm sure have more talent than myself but I would prefer to post my 100 best than a 1001 duds.

Depends what you use it for. I work for a charity and Flickr has been my archive for all my work photos. There are thousands. I don't always have time to prune what gets backed up, sometimes it's a matter of sending the best photos off to be used, and then just dumping everything I have to Flickr, then deleting from my device. Oh well, now to get used to google photos.

The "free" account was always limited to 200 images being able to be viewed... I just don't like how the price of "Pro" accounts doubled. Yeah, they say you get these other benefits, but they are only a benefit if you can utilize them, I can't...

I don't have this limitation. All of my photos seem to appear when I go through them.

Are you referring to Sony proprietary Memory Sticks? Many people use the name to describe a flash drive. I know this is pedantic, but it would help to make this obvious.

Hello??😜

They are not zones but formats! The US uses the NTCS format, while most of Europe uses the PAL format!

They are also made to play certain zones(!) depending on which country the machine is intended for. Many have the capability to play any region. Mine should play any dvd from any country, even an NTSC (not NTCS) discs. I haven't yet had the chance to test it. It does however require a button combination when the disc tray is open.

Your DVD player may have a way to play the disc, but you'll need to google this. Sometimes you can use a button combination or similar to unlock multi region capability.

Thank you for your honest answer! I shoot photos with 2 Sony cameras, (DSC707 and DSC-HX400v) a card reader that is able to read both memory sticks and memory cards is what brought me to this reader. Once again thank you!...Julian

In my experience, for SD cards there is no need to spend real money. Our pound shops sell perfectly good ones which work perfectly in the U.K. No reason why it shouldn't be a similar experience in the USA, especially as some are clearly the same product as name brands. As for memory sticks, can't you just plug those straight into your usb?

It always work but it always work only one way that is from the phone to the PC and not the other way around. I use it everyday.

It may work for you, but most Windows computers will not see an iPhone as a mass storage device. Mine and my work computers won't. But years ago they worked fine this way.

Doesn't work for most people now. Apple don't want it to. Someone has posted how to get around that in this thread though.

Freezes and when it does work it does not show all of the photos on the phone for reasons unknown. I notice a lot of people have suggested additional apps to facilitate the transfer. I will be looking into those. But if Apple is so intuitive, why should I need to?? It should already be simple and open. Opps, I forgot, "open" is considered a bad word in the Appleverse.

It's open within the Apple universe. Intuitive, I'd say not so much, not any more. People used to complain Android did things Apple couldn't, well now they have what they want with all the confusion it brings me now. Mini rant I know.

Back to the question. I use Dropbox which gives me free storage and is pretty fast. I do also have a couple of Leef devices, but I find the app rather flaky at times. It has to scan the device before it can do anything, so I'd recommend web based unless you have a real use for Leef. They are pretty good if you don't mind the time spent with them though. They do as advertised.

So you have a member that is spreading misinformation like it was written in stone.

Maybe you can send him a PM and ask him to read up on topics prior to posting?

While I'm at it, why not insult his mother too. Please, keep it civil, and don't try and round up other people to have a go at others. You are the one in the wrong for the way you are handling this. Can we get back to photography now or stop the discussion?

Come on now, Bipod is insulting everyone in this thread. He truly is as clueless about mirrorless as I have ever seen. He should be spending his time researching mirrorless instead of wasting his energy posting here all the wrong info.

Can people please stop arguing and insulting each other.
