I keep my printer/scanner turned off until such a time I want to use them. If I start the scanner software and the device is turned off it will tell me there is no scanner available. I thought the software may be looking for the machine as part of the boot up process. Other than that, I don't know what would block the software from starting.
There may have been some degree of serge associated with the power going out. This possibly affected you scanner, not the actual software. I would unplug the scanner and see if the software will boot up.
This is one that I will remember - I just may have to follow your approach some day! Thanks!
Looks like something out of a self help book. In general the sound good for posting.

Yep, it was done by a senior center!
Our first new vehicle was a 71 Impala and loved it!
That was rather interesting. I did not know Amazon would sell boxes of returned items but that would be fun to do even if you did not have a way to sell the repaired items.
I just hit a deer last month, I have no desire to hit a fish!
And the price for that much fun is?

I did think about it but even though I could afford it, I really hate to pay someone to do something I can do myself. Where I live there are several places that sell fireplace inserts but only one that does installations. They charge $140 per hour for their labor but if you are the only game in town you can do as you choose. It will cost a little over $1,000 just to have them remove the old insert (500 lbs) and insert the new one (660 lbs) using a special dolly with a forklift attachment. It does make me consider buying a dolly that will do the job for about $900 and at least have the dolly after the job is done but I would need to get a few guys to physically load and unload it.
