I feal your pain. I shot these guys last year at Latrobe (Arnold Palmer) Airport in PA. Will have another shot this June. I do have an advantage. My brother owns a home 2 miles from the airport, and about 800 feet higher elevation. We just hang on the deck and wait for them to fly directly over us.

Even with this huge advantage, still a tough subject. You did very well. Great timing in #2.

Thank you. Been working on that. The high pressure pipe is so much more sturdy, but it's thickness doesn't allow the current spike I'm using in. I will work on some sort of adaptor this weekend. I'd like to be able to change bases quickly. Thank you.

widetracker: Lubricating the threads was not something I had thought of, thank you. They are already difficult to turn. Recently saw one of those "reality" shows set in Alaska. One of the guys on there had built something very similar to what you have done here. He had a friend with a big Nikon lens that he mounted to the stock . I love DIY.

Thanks again all. Am building, and possibly launching, a rig for aerial shots with helium ballons. Should be interesting.

[quote=Blurryeyed]What is wrong with our government that he seemingly can't be stopped in his unconstitutional assaults on the separation of powers...

I'll tell you why he can't be stopped. I'll tell you the problem. The Tea Party (or conservatives, or true Americans, or what ever label or title people want to give us). The old school Republicans, the Rinos, have a bigger problem right now than BamBam, the democrats, or liberals. Their cushy, little way of life is in jeopardy. They are too concerned about loosing their lifelong "careers" to so-called tea party canidates. Besides, many of these rinos lean closer to the democrat side than they do to the tea party anyway. We need term limits. We need a purge!!!. These people will never vote for term limits so the only way that has a chance if it's put on a ballot for voters. Good luck with that happening.

Since we can't have a "purge", the next best thing is to get rid of them one at a time.

Kinda looking for generic apps because I have: Canon Powershot, T2i, 7D, Panasonic P&S ( infrared), and GoPro (already have that app). However, I will take brand and/or model specific ones if I must. As I said, you are dealy with a dolt, as this is my first tablet and first venture into apps. Thank you.

Just got a tablet today and know nothing of them. I was hoping I could download LR so I could shoot tethered. OS on the tablet is Android, so I'm guessing LR is out of the question.

I'd love to hear about any cools apps, but I'm mostly looking for something that allows me shoot tethered.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thnks.

thank you...the background on the left would have been too busy..
how would you sharpen the eyes?

I normally shoot RAW, which allows alot of control. I also use the Nik Sharpening software. This software allows you to be very selective with your actions by using what they call "control points". It allows you to control the size of the area you are sharpening. This way, you can take a soft portrait but only sharpen the eyes. I'm sure someone here can tell you more ways of doing this, someone who shoots portraits.

Why don't you mention what software you have and then someone who uses the same program might give you some tips.

All personal preferences. I like the fact that the subject is off-center, but I would put him to the right. I think the full name on the background would be less distracting if you could see it all. Lastly, his eyes are not in focus. It might be an overall softness of the image. I like my portraits to be soft-ish, but I still want the eyes sharp.

I have been told that the 55-250mm is sharper than the 75-300mm. Another + is the IS, the con is that you loose 50mm.

I'm brand new to this so forgive my ignorance. You mentioned APS-C Crop sensor. Isn't that a smaller sensor than a full frame???

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. If we sold all of it, we could fund our government for 6 months or so.
