Pain in the ,,,, here. I run several CNC machines, 3D printers and many other devices all attached/controlled via USB. Almost very Win 10 update completely scrambles my USB ports so none of those devices work after an update because the port numbers have been changed. I have to spend hours trying to reconfigure the USB ports back to what they were before the update so I can get all my devices running again. It's easier to reconfigure in the windows device manager rather than trying to open each individual devices software controller to change the USB addresses to what windows decided it wanted them to be. Thank God I only do this as a hobby now, and don't use these devices in my business anymore as if I had to reconfigure all the devices I had in my former shop, I'd lose at least a day of production just trying to recover from the damage caused by a windows 10 update.

Nice set! I especially like the first. What state?

In Watkins Glen, New York, not too far away from the Watkins Glen Grand Prix race course.

OK, must be old age setting in, but what does "too cool for school" mean?

Have no fear Ebay will go to bat for you if you are dissatisfied or if something goes wrong within 30 days, etc. Ebay will not let you be shafted by a seller unless you are entirely at fault. I have used Ebay to buy all my lenses and photographic equipment and have been more than satisfied...and well pleased.

eBay is not always helpful. I bought a power supply for a TI calculator on ebay. There was a picture of the item and it was described as fully operational. The item I received did not in any way resemble the item in the picture and it was not operational. I asked for a return and sent it back. The seller claimed this was not the item they sent me, that I swapped a defective item for the working item they sent me. After several rounds between me and ebay, ebay sided with the seller, claiming the seller provided them with a picture of what they sent, and a picture of what I returned, obviously different items. My concern now is that a seller can provide a picture of a mint D850 and send you an instamatic, and when you complain to ebay, they will say the seller provided a picture of a D850 so you are out of luck. Now, whenever I receive anything from anybody, I take a video of the sealed package that arrives, along with me unwrapping the package to show what was contained. Haven't had to use it yet, but just in case, it may help. By the way, the seller told me if I gave them negative feedback they would leave negative feedback for me as a person who swaps good for bad and nothing I can do about it. Use Care!!!

I bought a 256GB flash drive at Costco last year for $39. That's a larger capacity than my laptop harddrive!
I'm actually disappointed that I cannot find flash drives in the 2GB size because I too like to give photos away and it's usually not that many in the set.

Amazon... I buy in bulk for my wife, her sewing machines use only 1gb or 2gb usb drives. The members of her quilt guild swap designs using these drives all the time.

In what respect?

Think in terms of dropping your basket. Or loosing/damaging your one large usb drive with your only copy of your data.

Complain to your local FedEx agent. Their local policies/attitudes seem to vary. Never a problem here, they honk coming up the drive and will come to the door if I don't get out there first. Also I live on a steep backwoods dirt road and there are times UPS doesn't deliver in the winter. Several years ago, snow so bad UPS canceled deliveries and I figured FedEx would do the same. Early that evening I heard a honk in my driveway and saw an unmarked pickup truck. Went out to check, it was my usual FedEx driver with my package. Asked her where her FedEx truck was, she said she figured her FedEx van wouldn't make it up my hill so at the end of her delivery day she got her own 4wd truck and used that to get up my hill to deliver my package. That's service! Service depends on the attitude of the local FedEx office and its employees.

It's not just SAE vs Metric. Two of my current British cars (ACs) and many of my previous ones (like my old MG-TC) , use Whitworth, for which I have a complete set of tools like open and ring spanners and sockets, so I have to maintain three sets.

If I read the info correct, the sales tax IS being paid to the state by B&H, you aren't c***ting the state out of anything. What appears to be happening is that B&H is still paying the sales tax and at the same time refunding you the same amount of sales tax you paid. It seems like they would be losing money but my guess is that B&H is hoping that you will use your credit card and pay the monthly charge rather than paying off the card all at once. If you pay the monthly CC charge, it won't take long until the CC card interest you pay will far exceed the paltry x% sales tax you have saved. I figure B&H looked at the amount of credit card sales they take in and figured they should be getting the CC interest instead of Visa or Mastercard, and the x% sales tax rebate to get people to use their card is a small amount to sacrifice compared to the 29+% interest rate on their card, that would add up fast. Just my thoughts.

Many like me who have been using DSLR for 60+ years and have a huge investment in DSLR gear. No desire to change. They also said the horseless carriage/auto would replace the horse, but my wife and I still have horses and ride them. Sure we have cars, but the horses have more personality! So do the DSLRs.

Any "type" of camera will do that if its film advance mechanism isn't working well.

I mistyped, I should have said what "brand/model". I've short stroked 35mm cameras before and had similar results. Just curious what camera was used, not that it was the camera itself that was at fault. Also wondering if he was an assigned "combat/documentary" photographer, or just taking pictures for himself. My friend had no idea what his father did, or what camera(s) he had.

I saw absolutely no transfer of the type mentioned, from one picture to another, in the 60 year old WW-II film I processed. The one thing I did see had nothing to do with the film. I wish I knew what type of camera he used, as there were a good half dozen double exposures where it looks like the film was only partially wound so two pictures would overlap, one portion looked normal, another potion on the same negative was a double exposure composite of the first negative and part of the next negative. Two pictures, but clearly not a result of film to film "transfer".

Great stuff historically. Did you ever consider seeing if some war museum or similar organization might be interested?

I left that up to the owner as I returned the original negatives and photos I made to him. All I have are the "poor" scans.

15 or 20 years ago a coworker who knew I did my own processing asked me if I'd develop some film he found while cleaning out his fathers attic. Turns out he had 8 rolls of 120 agfa film and I said I'd try it but no promises. All the film developed and from the photos it appears that they were taken by a German soldier (his father was a German soldier and most likely the photographer) and began with photos of the Dunkirk shore, and carried thru across Europe with the last roll of photos taken in the Ukraine in a village called Shitomir (http://www.blackseagr.org/pdfs/konrad/Life%20in%20the%20German%20Villages%20around%20Shitomir.pdf). None of the picture show actual combat, it is mostly photos taken after the battle, showing the occupation of areas, POW's (mostly soviet), interaction between the soldiers and local inhabitants, and just general life of the soldier when not in battle. There are no offensive photos, although there are a few that depict the Nazi emblem. I've posted a few here. If anyone thinks the entire collection (roughly 50 photo's) would be of interest I'll add them with a link to them. The idea is that here is some film (B&W) that was exposed beginning in 1940, stored in an attic for many years and was still able to be developed and printed some 60 years later. I returned the negatives and prints but he permitted me to make scans. The scans aren't great, the actual photos came out much better.
