The Raven is the first civilian aerobatic aircraft to achieve a true positive thrust to weight ratio, meaning that Wayne can literally pull into a pure vertical climb after only a 250' takeoff roll. in fact, Wayne had so artfully mastered the awesome climbing power of the Turbo Raven that he could stop in a vertical ascent. and effectively hover on it's propeller, then pouring on the power, he resumes the pure vertical climb. Unfortunately, that very maneuver ended in destroying the Raven and injuring Wayne
The Northern Lights Aerobatic team had just completed their show and they all land together as a team. Tail dragger aircraft tend to be a bit tricky on the ground and one crossed in front of the other. The propeller had struck the canopy and was about 1 inch from the nose of piolet, piolet was OK!
They are all aerobatic aircraft except the yellow one is Home built formula one race aircraft. All formula one racers must use the same engine a Continental IO 200 and the aircraft of their own design.
I used to volunteer at the Reno Air Races and work on the flight line.
