I have been using Photoshop Elements for almost 20 years and it is still has more capability than I can see needing for my photography work, a hobbyist and casual exhibitor in local photography venues and contests. You buy it outright and use it till you need more than it can provide (which limit I have not reached) or until your OS doesn’t play well with it (or vice versa). Less than a year’s subscription to full Photoshop and good for many years.

Wish I had some cash stashed under my mattress! This would complete my Fujifilm kit.

Yep, not much happening in that little community. Nice aerial shots - the time of day really enhances them.

That image plays tricks with my mind's eye - first I see the fence pattern then I see the things behind, then I see the fence ……. Neat effect you’ve achieved there.

Thank you for commenting Mike, Bruce, and Linda! I agree Linda, fog and its accompanying moisture really enhances what might be a mundane scene or subject. My problem is hauling my self out of bed early enough to capture interesting views on those foggy mornings we have around here - I never was a morning person. Luckily, that scene was in fog that was hanging around in the middle of the day 😏

I have been photographing for more than 50 years. When I started I was perhaps 20 or 21 years old and what motivated me was a university assistant professor who invited me to see him working in the darkroom.
I cannot remember all of the details, but I think he was using a Kodak Retina or another German camera which were popular at the time, and I am talking about the mid 50’s. Exacta had a primitive SLR but that was not the camera he was using.

Every film at the time, at least where I was living, was monochrome.
Cameras did not have any electronics; they were all manual. Lenses were only single focal length, no zooms and obviously no AF. Yes, only handheld exposure meters and the Gossen and Weston Master with Selenium cells were the exposure meters we were using. The Pentax 1 degree spot meter was not available at the time, it was introduced around 1964 and had a Cadmium Sulfide cell.

Japanese cameras were not very popular then. I began using a Petri rangefinder, a type of camera we would be calling mirrorless today. It had a fixed lens and with it I had a second hand Weston Master that actually I did not know very well how to use it. No Internet at the time to learn how to use it. A horrible meter to use in low light. Readings, except in bright light were not very accurate.

I bought a Nikon 35mm f2 AIS in the early 80’s that has seen little use. I decided to give it a spin using my dSLR, a Nikon D610 in the manual mode. I was remembering the old times except for using the in camera meter. Let’s not talk about flash, they were manual, most had an electric bulb and using them was a nightmare. I shot the gallinule using fill-in flash a rather impossible shot at the time.

I went late in the evening to a local park to shoot once again like I did in the 50’s and it was a lesson in discipline and a great experience. Once again selecting apertures manually and once again using manual focus. I zoomed in and out with my legs. All that brought back many memories.
These are some of the images I made. I am sure that some of the old timers here will feel some of the nostalgia I felt. I hope you like these images.

When we received some much needed rain, I gave my wife yet another reason to have me committed. I took my camera and went to the front garden to record the rain on the flowers. The light, for some reason (LOL), was poor, but the colors came through.

Comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Some good work there, Mike.

Here are few random images I've pulled from my photo storage bin. The first is a Cosmos blossom shot in the back yard of my significant other. She has had the gold cosmos but a couple of years ago several plants showed up with this beautiful lavender color. I had to get an image of them with a Lumix ZS100 late one afternoon.

While visiting the Smokies back in the autumn of 2017 we got fogged in at Blowing Rock. The fog didn't deter the shoppers though. This image was seen and captured along Main Street at one of the many shops that line that old street. Shot with a Canon Powershot G9, which makes amazingly good images.

I purchased my first DSLR back in 2016 - A Pentax K5. I was eager to see how it handled so I went out to my front flower bed and grabbed this shot with the 55-200mm kit lens. I was quite excited about this first shot with a bonafide DSLR - the Bumble Bee couldn't have cared less.

The Great Blue Heron is one of the most photographed majestic birds this time of year. Unfortunately, I do not live in an area where I can view their splendor so my only alternative is to digitally paint one.

This is my attempt with a digital paint program using a graphic digital display tablet and stylus to emulate the various brushes.

Damn! You’re getting good at this!

If you are asking that question of yourself, then yes, you are facing the wrong way! But the guy on the left is going to miss his shot of the action too - his camera arm is too relaxed.

Good shot, Voss!
