No - go ahead! I always appreciate feedback...unless someone says it's terrible! ;

100% agree. the guy has a face that draws attention. Use of negative space becomes soft, dreamy.-- make that a very nice shot

I think it is neat photo.

Thank you! I appreciate the encouragement and advice too! If I can - hugs! LOL!

I look at this photo and I think it has the colors and mood of paintings that are centuries old. I think you captured a mood and the art-like qualities of that time period. I do not believe "sharpness" would add and perhaps subtract from the picture. It sort of has a "Mona Lisa" look to it (perhaps the Michael Lisa). The white spot above his hat is easy to remove even in iphoto. You might consider muting the harsh light on the top upper right corner. I know that some would want to whiten the shirt - I wonder if it would detract from the other "oldish" qualities?

Thank you. This is a nice take on the photograph and good advice. The feedback I have gotten from Everett's family is - they love the photo of Pip!

White balance is off, focus seems a bit soft as well. White balance you can fix, not so much with focus. I think I'd crop a bit tighter as well.

Short answer, no.

It isn't really very sharp - you are right. Would it be ok to enter anyway? Thanks.

I took this photo after I photographed and then interviewed my friends' father about his life. Afterwards, he and his family and I went out to dinner. When we got ready to leave the restaurant, he put his hat on and smiled at me across the table - and Boom - there was my favorite shot! He looked so happy.

My question is: Is this photo good enough to enter in a juried art show? I played around with it a little in Iphoto. Thank you!

Was on my way to work when I debated in my mind whether to stop and take the shot, I'm glad I stopped. Any thoughts? be brutally honest.

Illinois is going to look like this soon, if the climate keeps changing!

Nice photo - thanks for stopping to take it, or make it.

Everybody is NOT a photographer. Only those who take photographs are photographs. Look up ALL the definitions of photographer in the dictionary. I think you are confusing 'professional photographer' with 'photographer'. Even though you spent all that time and money on school, you are still far better than most of us. And that skill is appreciated even by us plain old 'photographers'. Most of us don't even want to be professionals or to take part in those realms of photography that professionals do. Yes, some nonprofessionals do shoot weddings and events for friends. This is a serious recession! Many people can't afford a professional these days. Thankfully, at least they can preserve some memories of the special days with a little help from their friends. Not the quality of yours, of course, and it is wonderful that those who can afford a professional still have that option. Be thankful for your skills. I'm sure you get a lot of enjoyment and have previously gotten a lot of enjoyment (not to mention, have made a lot of people very happy they had your services) from your talent. Count your blessings and let the rest of us enjoy our more limited abilities without being put down!

These were taken near Woodsfield, Ohio. There are so many ponds out in the country. You can't help but snap a couple of shots of them. :-D

Love the bottom one. Can almost feel the softness of the pine.

i hate all of these dumb over-ambitious pro photographer wannabes starting off with really suckey ideas and shots. you can't get great if you dont start out halfway there and as far as poses go, how retarded? youre not supposed to create poses because it looks fake. those "awesome poses" you're trying to emulate aren't forced theyre just natural candids. if you want your person to look a certain way just have them act like they have the personality. you cant mix and match personality poses in pic sets. it looks ridiculous and like youre trying too hard. -just like you do when you tell people to pose.
-JUST SAYING...

that was directed toward me on Facebook.......
Am I really that bad? Heres some samples of what I've done.

i've lived in Washington all my life, and it has some truly beautiful places. but i won't retire here... it's much too expensive! fortunately, i only have to move one state south to find both affordable living AND some of the most gorgeous scenery to be had...

Wow, they are great. Love everything except the lighthouse. I think the lighthouse has been way over used over the years - nothing personal.

First time seriously attempting to photograph the moon.
Out of 17 exposures, this one's the best. Actually better than I was expecting, considering that I'm using a zoom lens and not a telescope.

Exposure Time: 1 / 40
FNumber: 8
Focal Length: 300mm
ISO Speed: 100
Using Tripod and cable release.

Comments and additional images are welcome.

Amazing!
