Walkway bridge over spring at Maramec Spring Park Missouri. An average of 100 million gallons of water flows from the Spring daily.
Railroad bridge during a flood in South St. Louis Missouri, 2019. Flood lasted about 2 months. The actual distance between the 2 shots was 300+ yards.

"The Painter"

This is a fantastic photographers triptychs. I think I would put the order of shots a small photo 1, large photo 3, then small photo 2.
Thanks for sharing

Thanks magnetoman. Sometime I'm so wrapped up on an idea I miss the obvious. However this was a strong evening hard light threw the trees that lite-up the iris only and threw a shadow on the wall. Not an earth-shattering composition or idea but I liked it. Think I'll try a square format on the flower and see how that looks.
Thanks

Sitting on the deck I was watching the sun light-up this iris.

I think I am getting closer to capturing the essence of these unique plants.

Wonderful shot JD. You've captured the beautiful texture & depth of the Violets

Fantastic work on the Dreamscapes.
This might not be considered a landscape but it does have a plant and cropped out land.

Looks better downloaded.

OK OK, comments that my friend is silly, misguided, etc., are all likely true, but that doesn't help the decision process. He's the type of guy who has gone back to school to get a doctorate just for fun, but he is not geeky by any means. He understands that he will be just dipping his toes in the water, and that is all he wants to do at this stage.

Bluntly, the cell phone, and any pocket camera, are too small (for him) to feel comfortable taking pictures. He has held one of my pocket cameras in his hands, and rejected it for size. So, please no more along those lines.

Let me re-frame the question. Can anyone recommend a point and shoot camera that is larger than a pocket camera that is easy to use to get satisfactory .jpegs? If he has a satisfactory experience, he would be happy to get more involved, but a poor experience will send him reluctantly back to his cell phone.

Thanks to the few who responded directly to the question.

I can only comment about the Olympus bridge camera (don't remember the model) I used before migrating to a FF.
Had an excellent zoom function, Easy to use, Place in "P" mode for point & shoot yet had the "M", "A", "S" modes if needed. It even looked like a DSLR camera.

Here’s my nickels worth. I like how you cropped the image and the way the Adamski effect was created. I also agree with the rest about the shadow and your 2nd image was a lot better.

However, you know there was going to be a however and this is only MY opinion.

I would go for a more minimal look and lose the bird and straighten the buildings.

Once agin some really nice edits. Here is my two cents worth.

The dapple light effect really works. Looks like scattered clouds is allowing sunbeams on certain areas of the scene.

Thought I would throw in my nickels worth. Straighten out the image added a little tonal & contrast adjustments. I thought that there was to many elements that was distracting. Cropped to make the path and white railing/bridge the hero's of this image. Then removed anything that was distracting, power lines & metal railing.
I thought about removing the hand rail but OSHA would be upset.

As an after thought I'd cropped again. This idea needs a liitle more work. Noticed some flare along the path.
Comments??
