Has anyone used a Tamron 1.4 converter with the 150-600 G2? If so what are your thoughts on how well it works.
Thanks!

I bought one to use with my D500 and the Tamron 150-600 lens. I am totally amazed at the distance/sharpness .

I am in need of a camera bag with wheels for traveling. My back pack gets too heavy running through airports and hauling in and out of motels. The size would have to comply with carry-on bags for flights. I have looked at local camera stores and they don't seem to carry them. I am looking on line, and it is hard to tell what they are really like. Are these a rare item? Thank you for any input or suggestions.

Thanks for the first hand information.

I have both in my store and the V600 is my workhorse. I only use the V850 for scanning large format negatives of 4x5 or larger. Both give excellent professional results.

I hear a lot of positive comments on the V600 photo scanner. Anyone have experience with the V850. Is the quality worth the extra cost?

I am a retired engineer and do photography services on the side just to keep busy. I don't charge much and have scanned slides, made albums, videos out of pictures, etc. For 500 slides I charged $149. This included scanning and editing the files. Yes, it took a while but I learned a lot. Slides MUST be dust free or you get specs all over them. You might need an air gun/blaster and I bought a 4 slide scanner for a reasonable price. I have a web site if you're interested in looking but send them my way and I can do it. Since I am retired I have time to put into something like this. Most photographers don't want to deal with such things because it "boring" and time consuming. I don't look at it this way and I really am not doing it for the money. Anyway, just thought I would put this on. My web site is mikesphotolibrary.com if you are interested. Ok, that's my take on this subject.

What a labor of love. Those projects are priceless for families.

[quote=uniqueharm]Not sure if this belongs here but I keep getting requests for photo scanning jobs, not sure why but thought it might be something to look into. These are people looking for 500 to 1000 photos to be scanned and possibly organized.
Does anyone have any info as to what is involved with this, what kind of equipment is needed, what to charge?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.[/quo
I just had 372 slides done and it cost me 1000.00. But most of these slides were not the standard 35 mm slides. They had a square image rather than the standard rectangular image. Therefore each slide cost me $1.00 right off the bat because they had to be scanned individually. I started with 1200 family slides and selected near 400 after throwing out the really bad ones and the landscape ones that everyone takes on vacation, but never can tell where the pictures had been taken a year or two down the road, much less 40 years. We received 4 flash drives of the 372 photos and 4 DVD's. I can just slip them into my laptop and PP any of the real special ones. Cost a lot, but absolutely priceless.

I don't see why you have to criticize others' opinions. It's a matter of choice.

Feel free to Unwatch but don't tell me or others what to do or not do, unless its constructive.

Can't believe I have to explain this to so called "adults".

I absolutely appreciate the posts from anyone--from the most technical to the most common everyday bit of knowledge that I want to learn. Sometimes it is good to see how much you don't know---and WJSaheen, you have shown me more than i want to know for now. I don't see it as analysis paralysis or a rat hole you can't get out of, but rather as a hole of knowledge--that you peek in, go in as deep as your mind can take- and determine if it is worth the time and effort to keep going or if you just need to back out and learn from the fun part of photography--taking pictures and examining results. What i find difficult is contradictory information.

Tack sharp will also include super sharpening it in Photoshop. I say Photoshop because you have more precise control over the halos and thresholds of the sharpening process.

Thank you for that information Fotoartist. I was not aware of that process in Photoshop. I am probably a "third grader" in the photoshop department. I am anxious to progress to that. Maren

As soon as we get 3D sensors and can print to a "color 3D printer" the fun will really begin.

If you are concerned about increasing the resolution look into BenVista or On1 Fractal which claim up to 1000X increase with good quality. Yesterday's BenVista Photozoom 6 can be had from Ashampoo for $20

The latest BenVista 7 pro and On1 are mucho$$$.

Thanks dpullum for that link. It sounds interesting and fun. Maren

Crop factor tells how linear dimensions of two sensors are related.
Crop factor squared tells how areas of two sensors are related.

Thank you for that. I would have never thought of that crop factor. Appreciate it. Maren

The D500 or the D7200 for that matter indeed have higher resolution than the D850. The D850 has higher definition that is number of pixels per image. Resolution is number of pixels per unit of measurement (i.e. mm)

I will work on that. Thank you.

The D-500 has an APS-C / DX size sensor, 23.5mm x 15.7mm and about 21MP with a pitch as you said of 4.22 microns.

The D-850 has a larger Full Frame / FX size sensor, 35.9mm x 23.9mm, about the same size as a 35mm film negative and about 46MP with the 4.35 microns.

The pixels are packed closer together for the D-500 than the D-850 even though the D-850 has more pixels. Pitch is just a way of expressing density.

For the D-850 to have the same pixel density as the D-500 it would have to have an approximately 49.8MP for its sensor. Not really that different.

That is 21 * 1.54^2 = 49.8MP. For the 24MP D7200 DX camera it would be 24 * 1.54^2 = 56.9MP!
