I thought they were fair prices for like-new lenses. Both prices fall within the range (albeit at the top) of sold, US lenses. Prices edited above...

Why are you yelling about it?

It's OK to properly use the Shift key and not use Caps Lock for everything typed...

Is the Nikon battery grip, model MB D17 worth the $400 +/- cost, or will the less than $100 varieties (i.e. Vivitar, Neewer, etc.) work just as well? Have any UHHers used one or the other or both? Please share your thoughs. Thanks!

Nikon's is not worth the money unless you are a fan-boy, have money to burn, and want to brag that you over paid. I have now owned two off-brand grips for my Nikons. Both have performed flawlessly.

First up is the Meike, dual battery grip for my D5100. I've had that grip since January 2012. It was in solid service for years with no issues...I even used a generic battery in it, parked next to the OE Nikon for all those years (Put the OE Nikon in first, let it read the chip, then put your generic in.). Of the 26,xxx on the shutter count, I could easily say that 24,xxx were with the that grip installed. $35 on Amazon - https://smile.amazon.com/Meike-Vertical-Battery-Camera-Shutter/dp/B01H50J80K/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1489331019&sr=8-3&keywords=meike+d5100+battery+grip

Second up is the Meike for my D750. Zero issues. Works perfectly. The 750 even knows the grip is there and lets you custom assign the grip buttons functions. The grip looks like the Nikon, texture is good, build and quality is awesome, it even comes with a remote for bulb control. Again, absolutely flawless operation. $77 on Amazon- https://smile.amazon.com/Meike-MK-DR750-Multi-Power-Battery-Wireless/dp/B00QTG0CZC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1489331124&sr=8-1&keywords=meike+d750+battery+grip

I can't speak to the other off-band units out there but I can both of these Meike units. They are both reviewed well on Amazon. If you want to see pictures of the grips, as installed, let me know and I'll send them to you. I can also send a screen shot from the D750 to show the grip button customization.

Cheers!

Beautiful blue, cloudless sky in Mayfield, Ohio. Its been a warmer than usual winter. We have had numerous days over 50 degrees and a small handful that have touched 70. I was surprised to see the buds on the tree in the front yard.

Comments always welcome. D750, NIKKOR 70-200 f/2.8, hand-held, 1/1000, ISO 100.

{Edit} I've attached the JPEG. I tried to attach both the NEF and the JPEG but the keeps kicking it back. JPEG used in PS CS6 with Perfectly Clear.

I did some pricing research *after* listing the lens. My apologies...

Asking $175 + $10 insured shipping = $185 total.

Its a great walk around lens but the market is what it is for Tamron lenses.

{Edit}

- I have 100% positive feedback on eBay. Didn't think to mention that before but realized I have zero selling feedback on The Hog. I have attached a screen shot of my eBay account page... -

This lens is in mint condition. Never dropped, well cared for, always had a [Pro]master HGX protection filter installed. I had no issues with this lens on my D5100. I took a lot of pictures with this lens. Pictures that I love. Online reviews of it are solid. Has both caps and hood. You might be able to talk me into giving you the protection filter too...

$250 OBO. Seriously, if you are interested, make me an offer. I don't believe that $250 is unfair but I'm willing to negotiate. I'll cover shipping. PM me if interested.

The pictures of the lens are taken with my 50mm f/1.4. The non-lens pictures were with the Tamron on my D750.

Good morning all, just wanted to get some opinions on the full frame vs crop sensor debate. Which do you use and why?

First off, you asked a loaded question that causes a lot of people to give very defensive answers. Kudos for the bravery!

To the question...after leaving film in December of 2011, I used a D5100 for 5 years. I switched to a D750 and absolutely love it. Truth be told I may have been happy with a D7200 as it has most of the same features I wanted and was looking for. But, because my wife cares about me and my hobby so much, she said: "Buy what you want but don't second guess your decision." At that point, I couldn't refuse to go full frame.

We have kids...lots of kids. They are in sports. We take vacations. I wanted the extreme capability of low light forgiveness. Plus, if she was giving me permission to do what I want, with no regrets or second guesses, I was going all in.

Keep in mind that companies like Nikon are fully committed to DX. The D500 gets amazing reviews! If Nikon put the D500 in bed with the D7200 and you could take the best DNA from both...that would be the perfect DX camera in my opinion. It probably would be what I have now.

{Edit}

I still have my D5100 and I still pull it out and use it on occasion. Its a great camera and handles well.

{End Edit}

Good luck on your quest!

I had been shooting on two Pentax ME Super's for years. I refused to give up film. My loving and adoring wife purchased me a D5100 kit with the 18-55 and the 55-200 VR. That was back in 2011. I most recently fell in love with my D750. I became comfortable with Nikon because of the Xmas 2011 gift from my wife. Had it not been for that, I may have stayed with Pentax because I already owned all the lenses.

eBay has some listed. Most of them are coming from Japan though. That doesn't scare me off. My 70-200 f/2.8 VR I purchased from Japan. Flawless condition...

The input has been great.

Like I said in the original post, I have all the dream lenses I want: 50mm f/1.4, 70-200 VR f/2.8, and 16-35mm f/4. Having said that, I do want the convenience of grabbing one lens to cover "most" when we are on vacation. We have 5 kids and enjoy cruising. I typically take all three lenses with me on vacation but want that one lens to grab from the stateroom and travel light for the day.

"Does anyone have experience on both lenses with an FX body?"

Only the 28-300mm which is a prosumer grade lens...

Here are two examples of the 28-300mm... the first on a D3x and the second on a D3

Hope this helps...
or is at least food for thought...

It does help. Thank you for the input. Both of those shots look good...
