When I look at black and white photos I do not "see" or imagine colors. What I see is line, form, shape, texture, tonality, shadow and contrast, but not red, green, and blue. I don't care what the "real" colors are. B&W often allows me to see and appreciate greater amounts of detail without the distraction of color. Viewing a well done monochrome image is a very different visual and visceral experience than viewing the same image in color and can have a stronger dramatic impact on my emotions than a color version could. I find that some images work better in color, some work equally well in color and B&W, and others give superior results when shot in B&W.

It is the story of an old gentleman who has Alzheimer's disease.

His son, who loves him very much, decides with his him to place him in a nursing home.

The day of separation is coming. The son and his old man meet in the executive office with the director and a nurse.

While the son signs the papers, the old man gently leans to his right side
. The nurse jumps up and comes to stop the movement in extremis.

A few minutes later, the old man began to lean again, this time to the left. Once again, the nurse pounces and manages to stop the old man's fall

Sometime later, the old man's body begins to lean forward. This time, the nurse set him straight to his chair.

At that point, the son finished filling out the paperwork. He gets up and asks his father,


"So Dad, are you going to like it here?"

And the old man says,

Yes, I think. But in my opinion, they will never let me fart quietly.
