Here are a few more, I didn't want to put too many on on post.
Theses are from Myrtle Beach about a year and a half ago when I was first getting a good start with my D610. I have for the most part been working on composition since that time, getting more and more advanced in all the other aspects of photography as I feel comfortable with them and feel like I have read enough to try them. So these are just some early attempts that I was happy with and wanted any opinions, good or bad.
KTJohnson, thanks for the tip. I noticed that and wasn't sure if it mattered or not.
Thanks for the tips, I will definitely try those adjustments. I think I may need a better computer screen, because I was thinking they already had borderline too much vibrancy and contrast. I really want a 5k iMac, but yikes! I can get a couple of really nice lenses for what that thing costs optioned out!
Go easy on me, my waterfall pictures are my first attempt at raw and Lightroom! Andrea posted some great pics that I can't hold a candle to, but wanted to show mine off anyway! Thanks for looking and any advice will be appreciated.
I've been to Hanging Rock many times in the past, being it is nearby. I'm sure there are some good photo opportunities there. This trip to Transylvania County a few weekends ago was my first "dedicated" photography trip, though, so I'm game for going anywhere and everywhere, whether I've been before or not! I know what you mean about going with someone with some previous knowledge, that would be a big help and time saver in some instances. I got to the Dupont State Forest area on Friday morning and got on the mountain bike to scout out the best spots to be at for first light on Saturday morning. I'm glad I did, because boy was it dark finding my way through the trails at 6:00 am!
Sounds like a plan, Andrea. It has been a few years since I did that hike (pre-photography days), but if my memory serves me, I took the plunge basin trail thinking it went to the bottom, when it was actually just a side view of the plunge basin. I think the Linville Gorge trail was the steep one to the bottom Not terribly long, but steep, indeed.
More great shots, and nice processing! Glad I'm not the only one here brand new to raw and Lightroom. Maybe several of us in NC should get a trip planned for getting back to the falls in the spring. I want to get to a lot more of them!
No, I haven't sold it, I just put it up for sale on here a couple of days ago. I enjoy landscape, architectural, and street photography mainly.
Not at all coming from the 610. I bought the book "Mastering the Nikon D610" to learn about every button and menu option, and have the book for the D750 on pre-order!
The 750 is great, as is the 610. I had no complaints with the 610,there were just a couple of things about the 750 that I was interested in. The main thing was the built in wifi, which has worked perfectly so far. I enjoy being able to go ahead and send a jpeg to the wife or a friend while I'm still on a trip, without having to have the laptop with me, or having to have an Internet connection. I can just send them from the phone. The flip screen didn't influence my decision one way or the other, but did find it very useful on some shots from the ground! Oh, and I got mine from Amazon, but I'm pretty sure Nikon controls the price, so it will be the same no matter where you get it.
I believe we were there at the same time! Nice work! I posted one of my shots in my introduction on the forum a few days ago, I'll post some more of them as soon as I get a chance to process them.
I upgraded to a D750 and am selling my gently used US Model D610. It is in as new condition with very low actuations at 4700+. I handle and store my camera and lenses like they are fine jewelry, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, nor can you tell it has ever been used. Included is the box and everything that came with it, just like you were buying a new one. I thought I would keep it as a second body, but really don't need it. Since I bought it when it was $2000 it hurts to sell it, but seeing that they are $1500 now I would like to ask $1300 and see if anyone is interested. Please send any questions you may have about it.
Chateau Morissette is about five miles up the parkway from Mabry Mill. It is a beautiful building, built from reclaimed timber. There is always something happening as far as live music or some kind of festival, spring through fall. There is also a very nice restaurant, and of course, lots of good photo opportunities!
It's nice to see a few others on here from NC! Jam, I got to take a few pictures in Beaufort last summer when I brought the family down for a week, nothing great, though. I did get a few that I was happy with over at Fort Macon.
Erv, I'm really enjoying the D750 so far, it was nice a few weekends ago to be able to send a few pictures with the wifi to my phone to share instantly. And the focusing in low light is incredible!
