But there is only one horse so bobtails doesn't fit the story.

Perhaps the person who wrote the song his English Grammar wasn't correct and it should have been bob’s tail, meaning one horse’s tail.

With lyrical songs, it is what rhymes best and not the grammar that matters.

Don, that is a good lesson for us all.

Thanks for the tip.

We think of bacterial infections but fungus is only between our toes.
I sent him the following There's a Fungus Among Us message:

David, be aware, fungi are opportunistic and you, tho health and strong, may be fertile ground. "More than 75,000 hospitalizations and nearly 9 million outpatient visits occur every year for fungal diseases, 7,000 die per year in USA." Bacteria, inflections, ya, sure, but fungus, na, that does not happen... guess again. What's that itch between your toes or the whitish inside your mouth, or why are you wheezing? Back in the 1960s I studied lung diseases for 5 years at Wayne State [Detroit] Medical Environmental Department.

I became infected with histoplasmosis 50 years ago, when living in a heavily wooded low creek area, near Richmond Virginia. "Histoplasmosis is caused by a fungus that lives in soil, particularly where there’s a large amount of bird or bat poop. People can get histoplasmosis by breathing in fungal spores, and infection can be mild or life-threatening."

"Valley fever, also called coccidioidomycosis, is an infection caused by the fungus Coccidioides. The fungus is known to live in the soil in the southwestern United States and parts of Mexico and Central and South America."

https://www.cdc.gov/fungal/features/histoplasmosis.html
https://www.cdc.gov/fungal/cdc-and-fungal/burden.html

If the opportunity presents, Fungi can evolve to fit the host if immunity is compromised... Healthy old can become targets because immunity declines with age... Take your Vitamin D ~! Some diseases or cancer treatments can compromise the immune system.

Thank you, Don for educating us. I did not know how dangerous those spores could be and will be on the look out while walking and taking photos of fungi.

Thanks to the Pharmacist too for his input.

A couple of fireworks shots I made on the wide beaches of Wildwood, New Jersey , along the Atlantic Ocean coastline, USA.

2) Canon 5D MkII, 16mm, ISO 400, f22, 25 seconds.

Click on download to see better image quality.

I use only manual settings for fireworks shots. The main thing is to hold open your shutter long enough to collect a few bursts, that will fill out your frame better than a single burst shots.

To allow me that longer shutter speeds, I shot at f22 at ISO 400 with camera on tripod of course.

For a shot with any other ground objects in the same shot, like the Amusements, I first made a test shot to lock in a proper long correct exposure of the amusements so they would not be over or underexposed when the fireworks began. That previously obtained long shutter speed was used when the fireworks were fired above the amusements.

For the other shot, I wanted to show the entire flights and lives of the fireworks from their ignitions on the beach, up through their entire flights until their peak bursts, so this one has a 25 second shutter speed.

If shooting digitally you can play with the shutter speeds and f-stops on the first fireworks, and then dial in what is working for your best results as the fireworks continue. Just be sure to compose your shots with enough room to keep the highest bursts within your composition.

FYI, I am a professional photographer that has been shooting fireworks since I was a teen photographer, nearly 60 years ago.

Nonsense! Gosh, you are harsh. We don't know this man's circumstances. We must count our blessings that we are not in his position.

Perhaps trying a different coloured background may be better. Just play around starting with white.

I have just noticed that another member has just changed the background.

Just a thought as it is a very nice photo.

I do not want to come off as some kind of "MACHO MAN" wise guy or hero but I never found any normal photographic assignment especaill difficult or unforgeable in a negative way, especially in social, family, wedding, special occasion, photography, etc. Well at least in civilian life.

I do not usually care to share my actual "war stories" but I did serve in the Vietnam (conflict) war and while shooting aerial reconnaissance from the open door of a gunship, on several runs, we were fired upon by the bad guys- NOT GOOD! Good thing, I was concerned about the exposure settings for Aero- Ektachrome Infrared film to keep my mind off the situation. A can tell y'all that before the third flight, I made sure to visit the LATRINE well in advance. GOSS!

After returning to the world, I worked for a while as a press photogher, and as the new guy on staff, I got all the riots, fires, political commotions, etc- never disturbed me. Then I went back to studio work, portraiture, family stuff, and commercial work. Nervios brides, drunken guests, screaming babies, helicopter mothers, fussy art directors, and MOSTLY many pleasant and lovely experiences- never a problem!

As for religious functions, I've probably been in more churches, synagogues, mosques, and temples than a clergyman. I might be the only Jew who can recite the entire Nuptial Mass. I can interpret Hebrew prayers and blessings and I am working on my Arabic. I have covered, weddings, funerals, first communions, baptisms, Bar Mitzvahs, and Conformations- no sweat!

As for those first communions- those kids never looked great with their tongues sticking out. Receiving the blessing with Holey Water works out better.

I never ran out of film or cards or go stuck wiht defective gear- I always overkill with spares. The only thg that might suddenly die is me- it's an age thing! If that happens, at least, I won't be around to suffer the consequences- most folks will not speak ill of the dead. Anyway- my assistant can pinch-hit!

My clients can cooperate (most will) or not- I can work around that. If plans go sideways? I can usually right the ship. Folks can yell at me, call me names, or throw me out, just PLEASE don't shoot at me! I find that rather perturbing!

You are a pro and practice makes perfect and you had more than your share and therefore you toughened up. Good for you. It was your living so you had to work at it to become the best in the game.

I admire you and follow your threads.
