How many shutter activations?
Condition?
When did you buy these items?
Any warranty?
Why are you selling?
It would be helpful if you could post photos of everything.

I have several thousand Kodachrome slides some of which I would like to convert to digital format. I tried using a Wolverine Titan slide scanner but the photos came out too grainy and the colors oversaturated.

I am soliciting recommendations for a quality slide to digital scanner.

Thanks

This question has been previously discussed ad nauseum. Please search the archives and you will see many recommendations from scanners you can buy or scanners you can easily put together yourself -- slide copiers are a good way to go and is what I use.

I belong to another web site for photographers . On this site you can post questions , photos , retouchings , and much more . Under retouching , there are many members that post their coloring of B&W photos as I have done many times under a different name then I use here . They also allow you to download their B&W and play with your coloring of the photo they posted.

This photo I posted here has the B&W copy I downloaded and the coloring I did to it . Before you say anything about the difference in the lighting , I always knock the lighting down some if there is bright outs . I thought I would share it with you all . Hope I don't offend anyone with this coloring , and I hope you all like it . Thanks for looking and if you leave a comment , thanks again......The download looks better

My only criticism is that your colorization lost all the hair highlights that are very important and flattering for any portrait of a woman.

Started with 2 Asahi Spotmatics I bought at Canadian PX in Baden Baden, Germany in 1966 along with 28mm, 55mm, 105mm, 200mm and 300mm Super Takumar lenses, while stationed in Stuttgart. Upgraded to Sf1n in 1989 with a Tamron 28-200mm zoom, and then Zx5n in early 1990's. Then went digital with *istD and a Tamron 18-200mm zoom lens; upgraded to K10 and then K20, then K-7 and finally for the past several years, a K-5 with a Pentax 18-250mm zoom, which I replaced with a Sigma 18-300mm zoom last year when the 18-250 focusing mechanism broke.

I keep reading a lot of comments and reviews on editing programs. I don't mind paying for it, but I want one with a reasonable price. I have tried a couple that I didn't like with their trial offer, realizing of course that the full version would have yielded better results. That is where I am at now. I am looking at Adobe Photoshop elements, and Lightroom. I was told by a fellow photographer that If I chose Lightroom I would have to purchase Photoshop also. Thank you

Bill

Take a look at ACDSee -- they have several different editing programs all at very competitive prices. I have used Photo Studio Pro (and its predecessors) for 15 years and obviously like it.

I have all of my insurance with USAA at this time. I want to insure all of my cameral equipment. Does anyone have esperience with USAA doing this and would you recommend them? What should I look for when getting this insurance?

I, too, have all my insurance with USAA (ever since I got my gold 2nd Lt. bars over 60 years ago). I have all my camera equipment covered with their PAF (personal affects floater) and have several claims over the years, including the last one where I accidentally dropped my 4-year old 18-250 Pentax zoom lens and the AF no longer worked. So I called them and they sent me a check for that was actually more than the cost of a brand new Sigma 16-300 zoom lens. No claim form or photo required, just a phone call. My prior claims included the cost of replacing 3 cameras (one accidentally dropped in a lake getting out of a fishing boat, another other that fell out of my back while riding my bike, and one dropped when I tripped going down some stairs and the lens mount broke), a couple of polaroid filters that came unscrewed and fell off the lens, and even the loss of a lens hood. All handled with just one phone call and cashing their check for the full cost of replacement with new items. Does that answer your question? The only problem I've had with USAA is, as another hogger noted, is with auto claims, but with some persistence and extra time, even those claims got resolved very well and generously even though it took some legal arguments and threats to cancel on my part.

I recently asked ACDSee Support if I could safely uninstall older versions of ACDSee (v17 and v19) when I upgraded to Pro 2020.. here is "James'" answer:

Yes, you can uninstall ACDSee 17 and ACDSee 19 before installing Pro 2020. Or you can install Pro 2020 first and then uninstall those 2 legacy versions.

All the versions are independent, so it is personal preference. Usually, I would install the new version first, register it, and then uninstall the old versions.

That is what I have done every time I have migrated to a new version from an older version of ACDSee.

You should take a look at ACDSee -- they have several different levels of software starting at $30 for software with very robust features.

My 2019 Studio Ultimate and 2020 Pro on the other computer both have these features. ACDSee is a great package for lots of the 'grunt' work before putting an image into PS, Topaz, etc. for specific tasks like sharpening or noise supression.

If I am biased, guess I am. I bought my first version of these tools when it was on a 3 1/2" floppy.

ACDSee Studio Ultimate and Pro both have very good sharpening and noise suppression tools, so why would you need to put an image into PS, Topaz, etc. after you tweak it in ACDSee?

That should be o.k. because v17 and v19 are separate programs -- whatever edits you have done to your photos previously should remain the same when viewed in Studio Pro.

actually, one more question: I have ACDSee v17 and v19 both on this machine... when I spring for Photo Studio Pro, can I uninstall v17 and v19?

I think so, but just to be safe, I would call ACDSee to discuss before you delete them -- there may be some nuances to migrating from 17 and 19 to Studio Pro. I have always used the Pro versions and not the more basic programs like 17 and 19 (they keep changing the name so what I have that I upgraded to last year is now called Studio Pro 2020). FYI, when I upgraded to the 2019 version I kept the 2018 version for several months just in case something was lost in transition, but both still worked fine and finally I uninstalled the 2018 version and have had no problems since other than having to reset all my configuration preferences, which I have always had to do even with the so-called upgrades from older versions of the same program. You would think that by now ACDSee would have eliminated having to do that like other software programs have done whenever they upgrade their software.

I suggest the Photo Studio Pro unless you want layers. That's the one I have used for years through the various annual iterations. Again, the main difference between Ultimate and Studio Pro is Ultimate uses layers, Studio Pro does not, so Studio Pro is less expensive than Ultimate.

Just so you know, v. 19 does not use layers, so if you don't want layers but want perspective correction, go with Photo Studio Pro (I use last year's version and haven't decided whether to upgrade to 2020) and save some money instead of going to Ultimate (I don't want layers so I have never spent the extra money for it).

well rats... nothing in any of the drop-downs looks anything like the screen shot you presented... I don't have Ultimate... just plain ol' ACDsee v19... thanks a million for the help... maybe I should spring for Ultimate... might even consider 365... have to look at the relative pricing. Maybe evaluate v20 as well... thanks again, BeYoung.............

Maybe it's a version thing? I have Ultimate 2018 Version 11.2 (Build 1309) It's the desktop version from 2018, the full program.

In the develop module:
1) Geometry tab
2) "Perspective" is located between "Rotate and Straighten" and "Crop"

Perspective does exist in the edit module as well.

Both Ultimate and Studio Pro are a lot different than the lesser ACDSee programs, so what you see in Ultimate is not what is available in 19 (I think it's now called Editor 11, which does not include perspective correction according to the spec sheets).
