DVD/CD storage isn't a lot better. Disks vary widely in quality. I have had disks (from the low bidder) become unreadable in 3 years. And I have had disks that I burned 25 years ago still readable. But even if you use the best CD/DVD media, they don't hold enough to be really practical. A DVD holds less than 5 GBytes. I can shoot 20 GBytes in a single shoot. If I stored all my photos on DVDs I would have a few hundred DVDs to deal with. Then finding the right one becomes a REAL chore.
Best current storage medium is a hard drive.
Safest current storage medium is a cloud backup from a reputable provider.
But everyone is entitled to their own mistakes.

To all on this subject: regardless of what type of home-based storage you have, you are at risk without (as mentioned) cloud backup. Carbonite is an excellent choice.

Burk,
All excellent, but #1 is just plain perfect. If you have the skill, I would suggest removing the vehicles from #3. >Alan

That’s the way you do it!
Yes. The first thing you should learn about cutting down a tree is how not to let it fall on your head. I was fortunate to have an old-timer show me how it worked before the first attempt.
People who have never heated completely or partly with wood have no concept of what a full cord is. It has become whatever the guy with the pickup truck says it is. I heated only with wood in my years in Maine. It was delivered in the form of 4x4x8 at a very reasonable price. (Of course that was in the 1970s.)
Laughing. I remember a rock band named "Men Without Hats."

Would have been cool in one color but very cool in selective color...
Many thanks! It's my first experiment with selective color.

Nice work.
Interesting take on an oft-used technique.
Thanks to all for your compliments.
Wow, does that bring some memories. Thanks! It's one of those songs you can never forget. The filthiest part of the river was the "Charles River Basin" in the city of Boston. In the intervening years, it has been cleaned up to the point where it is rated by the EPA as "fishable," but not yet "swimmable."

Your image has held my attention longer than any photograph on UHH in recent memory. I love the composition, but mostly the expressions on each subject. It reminds me of an old Life Magazine shot from the 60’s. Really great!
Tom,
Being compared to "Life" photographers made my head swell to twice the size. Thanks so much.

I know the general location of NSHS. The photo was taken within 100 yards of Newton North HS.
