I was at an air show years ago and wound up sitting next to a local professional. We struck up a great conversation. He complimented me on things I was doing right, and gave me some great pointers. We were shooting film, so instant feedback wasn't possible, but I learned a lot in a short time. Unless the guy is a real jerk, I think you will find it a very positive experience.

You are close with that statement...replace "libs" with "politicians" and you are 100% correct.

Trump said he would sign any deal Congress brought him. They brought him one that solved the dreamer problem and provided much more funding for border security. Then he reneged. Seems like more blame rides on him. So much for the art of the deal.

No question about the batteries being responsible for much of the weight, but even void of batteries it feels like twice my D750....but hey, it was nearly 30 years ago when I bought it, and I really didn't care about weight.

Progress is a funny thing that changes perspective. When I got my first corporate job the fax had removed days from the communication chain. Now we're all upset if email slows down by a few seconds!

Carry around my Nikon F4S packed with 8 AA batteries and a 70-200 2.8 zoom on front, then pick up any DSLR full frame with a similar lens and you will think it's a featherweight!

The next revolution will need to be in lenses. When a lightweight poly-carbonate with the qualities of glass is developed, there will be significant weight savings. As others have already stated, that's where the real weight is.

I use my old SB26 on a D750...have to shoot in Manual to get decent results, otherwise it is always over exposed.

I also think it looks like the mirror is somehow out of sync. Are you using the flash when this happens? I once had a Sigma film SLR,and if I wasn't careful I could set the flash so it was out of sync with the shutter opening, and I would get exactly what you posted.

Check out this Nikon chart.

You should find what you need to know. In my case the loss of functionality has me thinking seriously about an upgrade.

I honestly don't remember, it was almost two years ago. Cameta offers it today for $1450, but it is not always in stock. I waited patiently for it to be available. It did come with a one year warranty. FYI, it was either missing a small accessory item or I threw it out with the packaging. Didn't realize it for several months. I called Cameta and asked them to send one at my expense as I felt I should have noticed and reported the issue much sooner. They sent it for free.

My D750 is fine. Not affected by the official recall, performs flawlessly. It is a refurb from Cameta. Not sure if I would ever pay the premium for new from any brand.

How much has been invested in lenses and other accessories? Personally, because of chronic GAS going back to my film days, it would be hard for me to abandon Nikon. But, if I was starting from scratch, I would do a lot of comparison shopping until I found what suited me best. I would not rule out any brand. If Nikon is the brand of choice, I agree with jerryc41...D7200 or D500, or the FF D750, which is my current #1.

In my film years I started with Nikon because they offered the best solutions for backward-forward integration of lenses and accessories. I have stayed with Nikon for the same reason. If the mirrorless solution does not provide the same level of integration, migrating to mirrorless will become purely a price versus performance issue and Nikon will lose a strategic advantage competing for my dollars.

Having said that, a good product development strategy involves the willingness to cannibalize existing sales. It will be interesting to watch the battle unfold.

I have purchased from Adorama and Cameta over the years. Had one very minor issue with each, both resolved the issues promptly to my complete satisfaction. Among other purchases, I bought a used Nikon F4S many years ago from Adorama. Condition was listed as Very Good, but I could hardly tell it from new. About 2 years ago I bought a refurb D750 from Cameta, couldn't be happier.

I have purchased lenses and accessories from both with total satisfaction.
