Thank you Allen. So, the mem card hasnt been used since I imported the files. I havent formatted it yet either, yet when I look at all the files on this mem card, the pic I'm looking for isn't there. In fact, there are about 12-14 pics in the numeric order that are missing. Any clue how this happened, and is the image I'm looking for STILL retrievable from the mem card? If so how does one retrieve it?

romanticf16 great advice. I did defeat the process in converting prior to but I have not used the memory card since so I'm going to try the recuva software Goofy recommended. I'll be back... :)

Thing is I converted the images from this memory card from NEF to JPEG prior to importing them onto LR5. Yes I did a search, and most of the photos from that specific memory card are there, just not the one I'm looking for, and there are about 15 in the numeric series that are missing.

Didn't intend to. I made the apparent wrong assumption that even though I made the conversion, there would remain a copy of the original file. So once you convert from RAW to JPEG, the original is lost?

I am a bit new to the digital world and I have a question for the group. I recently shot a batch of pics in RAW. I have a Nikon so its in NEF. I used Nikons View NX2 program for transferring them to my computer and converting them to JPEG using LR5 to show them online.

Everything worked fine, and I formatted the memory card. Then a friend wanted one of the photos put on canvas for a gift so I checked Costco's canvas print recommended resolutions, and for the size this customer wants the JPEG resolution isn't big enough. I went to retrieve the NEF file to use the larger resolution image and I cant find the NEF file. It no longer appears in the batch of photos I uploaded from my cam and the pics are now deleted from the memory card. Do I do something wrong and how can I get the NEF file back, or can I? Rich

I know the topic is Nikon vs Canon lenses, but I recently purchased a Sigma zoom (150-500mm)lens and so far I like it. I'm using it mostly for shooting surfing pictures. How does the Sigma lense compare to the Nikon and Canon lenses? Most likely inferior I'm sure, but I was curious what others think about Sigma.

Mark, I'm confused. Why would I need a post processing app if Adobe gives you photoshop and lightroom for the $9.99?

Thanks Frank, I'll check out the link you provided. Also I've actually been a member for several days now. Not sure why it says I started today. Must be a default "preset" ;-)
