Here’s another shot of the Redbellied Woodpecker that I posted last week. I actually like this one a little better.

Great shot, Cly, but how do you know he has a red belly
. Can’t prove that by the photo. 😎😎😎

That is a paradox, the RedBellied Woodpecker has no red belly!

Beautiful image, great pose of the bird, and nice saturated colors and diffuse lighting. You also caught the bird ever alert and looking for potential trouble or predators. That takes a well trained trigger finger. You also posed the bird on a tree in it's natural environment instead of a feeding tray or feeder. Good work!

I very much appreciate your observations. I too do not like bird photos that include feeders or include backgrounds that are not natural habitat.

Everything works IMO: the colors, composition, soft background. Stunning result!

That really means a lot coming from you!

#2 is soft. Looks maybe like some motion blur. #1 is very nice.

Very much appreciate your opinion and I concur. I will print the first one.

[quote=John from gpwmi]Both are excellent!! I'm still trying for my first good shot. To me the color in the second one is more true to the ones I've seen. However, the head is a little out of focus, therefore I'd say the first one. Color can be adjusted if you like, but okay as is. Also the branch seems more in proportion to a small

I very much appreciate your observation and will tweak the color just a tad. As I commented to a previous post, the second one was cropped a good bit and was much further away.
