Pixelmator for the iPad just came out and the reviews look pretty good. It's $4.99 and it looks like it could serve all your needs. Just saying!

If you have a 4-5 year old pc, changing the video card isn't really much of an upgrade! You'd still have an older, slower processor and a slower hard drive. I can think of no program that runs on a pc that can't run on a Mac. You're right, on the iMac you can't change the video card, so you order it with the best card available. A new iMac configured just the way you want should keep going for years. The only thing you'll miss will be viruses, having to defrag your hard drive, things like that and in retospect I don't miss anything about a pc! Just saying.

If at all possible try and get into an Apple Store and prepare to be dazzled by the Retna 5K display. Stunning is the one word I'd use to describe it. No matter how much you magnify the photo, you can not see individual pixels.
iPhoto comes with the iMac and will do quite a good job of sorting and editing all your photos, JPEG, raw, whatever, and it does it seamlessly, plus it's included Free! It's not as powerful as Aperture but does do a great job.

Actually, the resolution is the answer, 5K! The 27" iMac next to it was a regular iMac and the pixels were visible, not so on the 5K, no matter the magnification, to see it is to believe it! Apple is alive and quite well!

The sky is not falling and Aperture is still alive and well. Just because Apple isn't developing Aperture further doesn't mean they don't support it, they do. I use both iPhoto and Aperture and I'm awaiting Photo from Apple. I find iPhoto to be a quick and easy editor for most of my RAW photos but Aperture is far more powerful. Both seem to fit the bill for my needs. No need to save, copy, move or convert, just let either program do its work. Have you tried iPhoto yet, it's pretty simple and straightforward and a great place to start post processing.
Apple isn't just interested in iPhones either, I saw the 5K 27" iMac yesterday and I was very impressed. You can not see any pixels, no matter how high the magnification. It is just so clear and beautiful! Just saying.

Let's put this in perspective, UHH is a website by, for and about "Photography". The new retna 27" iMac is perfect to view and esit photographs, but it won't cook meals, iron clothes and it's too clear for watching movies, so it has no purpose! Really! What else is out there that will do what this does for close to this price? Review on techradar says its a sight to behold and works beautifully! Just saying!!!

I tried boot camp and parallels 8 and although it wasn't free, parallels 8 was worth paying for. Programs run faster on my iMac than on my pic and it's a seamless transition from one to the other. Bootcamp is free, but you are booting either in a px world or a Mac world and in this case free means you get what you pay for. I found parallels to be worth the money, just saying.

Three suggestions, 1, Bring the machine in from the field every night, if possible.
2, Don't leave anything of value in the cab.
3, Don't lock the cab door, whatever they take is worth far less than whatever they damage. Store owners leave their cash registers open at night with cash in the drawer for the next day. This prevents the register from being destroyed or removed because doesn't know how to open it.

My question to the naysayers of PSA is, what other test is available to detect prostate cancer? I was diagnosed with prostate cancer last January following a biopsy. My PSA had been slowly rising and my primary physician sent me to a urologist as a precaution. As a result of finding one sample with a score of 3/4 for a Gleason of 7, it was determined a course of watchful waiting would be best. I September another PSA was done and my numbers had dropped by one one hundredth, not by much at all and a second biopsy was performed, the results being a second cell was found to also be cancerous with a 4/4 for a Gleason of 8.
I decided I wanted DeVince robotic surgery and that is what I had done at the end of October, 2013. On my return in February this year for follow up my PSA was 0.1. I was advised the cancer had just begun to migrate when my prostate was removed! So far, so good. I was 70 years old when this began to unfold and I feel I owe my life to PSA testing, a heads up primary care physician and urologist. When you find you have cancer in your body it's a lot different than when it's in someone else's body!
Not having your PSA checked doesn't mean you won't have cancer, it just means you won't know! Would I do it again, absolutely, without a doubt!

In 1976, to commemorate the 200th birthday of the United States of America, a coffee table book was published of photographs by hundreds of famous, notable photographers, Ansel Adams among them. Each photograph was identified by the photographer, camera and lense and exposure and aperture. I looked through the book, not looking at who shot each photograph, just seeing if I could find the Ansel Adams photograph by his style. Sure enough, eventually I found it and to my amazement, he shot it with a Polaroid SX70!
I'm certain if he were alive today, he'd still be shooting great photographs.

I bought a 27"IMac back in May and chose the 256gb flash drive for the speed. My programs reside on my flash drive and I use two 3tb external drives, one for photos and music, the other for Time Machine. Adding additional RAM later is easy and somewhat cheaper than buying it from Apple if you find it necessary but my configuration works well for me.
I did max out the processor and video card, two areas that you can't increase once the machine is built. Don't be concerned about using external drives as it opens up all sorts of possibilities and removes the limits of internal HD only. Just saying but you will enjoy your IMac!
