The plethora of editing software - some expensive, some free - has me stymied. I would like to get beyond Picasa (especially since it's no longer supported) but I don't know where to go. I'm not rich so would like something free or cheap. If I could learn one or the other or both, I would go with PS/LR. My confusion is when I see how people talk about doing this or that in PS then moving it to LR and doing this or that there and then moving it to some other editing software to do something else before being done with it. Why can't everything be done in one program? Why use so many? Is there a reason that some particular software is unacceptable? Does anyone have a recommendation for affordable, simple, thorough software that a simpleton like me can learn to fly? Thanks (and would appreciate not being bashed for being a dunderhead)!

I am a senior citizen and have been using PS Elements for several years ( PSE 14 now). It will do every thing that I need and is on sale most of the time for less than $50.00. I tried Photoshop cc with a monthly subscription. It is a great program and will do more than you will ever need but the difficulty of learning all those features that I will not use and the never ending updates and ten bucks a month that is difficult to end makes me happy with elements. Costco has elements 15 on sale for $38.00 right now. bud

One of my best photos.

I used 483mm. Hand held.

Ron, I am having similar problems with a HP Photosmart 7520. On an eight by ten vertical bars about one inch apart. Four by six prints are perfect. Have wondered if it could be the Kodak paper. This printer has always been a problem but it is paid for and I would like to solve that problem. I am using Elements 14 and windows ten.

Installed Windows 10 about 1 month ago and tried to print a photo on my Epson Photo 1400 printer. Photo came out with lines every inch horizontally and printed very fast. Worked with Epson on the phone for 1/2 hour or more, and after doing every test with my 1400 printer they asked me to try printing without using elements 11 on the Epson. I used windows Photo viewer and printed the photo without and issues. The problem lies with Windows 10 and Elements 11. Never had a problem with Windows 8.1
Anyone have any suggestions or has had this problem?
Thanks,
Ron

Bud, when you get it up and running let us know what you think of it. There;s not all that much out there for the 7D MK II.

RRS, I have it running and watched a couple hours this morning. I have several other tapes From Michael the Maven and have never had any problems running them on the computer. I have had the 7D Mark II for several months but thought I might gain a more in depth knowledge by watching the video and I learned a few things already. He is a great instructor. bud

Is this the dvd you are talking about?

If it is why not just play it on your dvd player hooked to your tv set?

Thank you. I like to view on the computer as I have ear phones that help me hear on the computer and Jerry41 gave me an easy solution. The HOG came through again. Nice to have such a great support group, bud

Get VLC. It's the standard for playing just about any video on a computer - and it's free.

Just purchased a DVD study guide from B and H for my Canon 7D mark II by Michael the Maven and it will not play without loading another program as it apparently not supported by Win 10. The problem now is that AVG security will not allow me to down load the program that will make it compatible. 42 dollars down the tube as I have opened the software and probably can't return it. I ain't happy.
