have you considered capturing these noble raptors in flight?
All the best on your journey srodday
and as Ourspolair wisely said... please stay safe and celebrate this holiday season in a responsible manner...
Last year I got quite a few in flight. This year, they only took off late at dusk when light was very low. Still I guess I should try.
Thanks!
We have seen a few snowy owls here in MA recently as it is the winter season. Some years, you can't find them but during irruption years, you can find a lot! This year seems to be in between.
Two different birds, both taken at/near sunset with my Olympus om-d e-m1 mark III with 300mm prime. Cropped and topaz denoise. Fun camera to play with (bought for birding) although I still want to get a Canon r5 in the next year...
Enjoy
You really should rent bodies before you switch as specs only tell you so much. I have the Canon 5d Mark IV (and some other canons) and em-1 Mark ii and iii.
I bought both Olympus used (and lenses!) in the past year for birding and travel (well that went out the window with COVID!). They can produce very nice images although at higher ISO, I did use Denoise.
I thought about getting rid of Olympus when they were sold but I generally hang on to equipment for a bit, and while I would like the new zoom lens (too expensive), I have most of the lenses I need and the gear is very waterproof. Plus the new owner will come out with new cameras so it will still be alive fir at least a couple of years. The camera itself will last years and by then, we shall see who is still around and how technology has changed.
(Now I will sometime get the Canon R5 within the next year probably used to upgrade for my canon stuff.)
I am a big fan of used if you get it from good places! Save some dollars
Very cool that they preserved history and nice shots to help the story.
In the past month, I have bought a used camera and two lenses, each separate transactions. No issues!
Big difference. Well done!
I have bought new and used from well known places. I couldn’t tell the difference. Include LensAuthority in the list, too. Since they rent out and repair, the used lenses I have from them have been great.
Love the background! Makes the butterfly really stand out!
I couldn’t get Workspace working on Catalina since Workspace isn’t 64bit. Did you get it working? I had to find an older computer at like High Sierra...

Great job with the well defined second tail!
Thanks for sharing! Great story
Looks like a wood stock! How special. I would have stopped as well. You will always remember this...
Keep checking Amazon and Walmart. Periodically you see it available.
Did you see any with their horns cut off? That seems to be the new trend to deter poaching. If done right (by experts), it doesn’t hurt the animal. The horn grows back in a few years and they have to repeat the process.
the v2 is a great lens. Consider buying used thru a good dealer like LensAuthority. You can save some dollars if available.
