How wide ??? Sigma 10mm !!!

Distortion on the 10mm? Was also considering the 14 mm FX from Nikon for a prime.

I use the Nikon 10-24 to take shots of my kid's retail store (inside merchandise shots) and it does an excellent job. Sorry I can't speak directly to the lens you asked about but I've never used either.

This lens would be a part of the DX line from Nikon.

I use the 16-35mm F4 VR, its wonderfully sharp, and the VR III is sensitive enough to leave on when on a tripod doing long exposures and it will even counteract the mirror slap on the D800.

Thanks, I am shooting with a D600 updated and I was hoping for this.

Looking at Nikon 16-35mm VR or the 17-35 mm. Really like the VR. Have tried the 14-24 mm and am not excited with the distortion. Looking to do some interior shot with this lens. Maybe a fixed focal length? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

No, that isn't what I mean. My list of folders which are within the 2014 folder, are not being shown within it, but alongside it.

See the picture below... The 2013 folder which is listed at the same 'level' as 2014 contains videos from a different location on the hard drive. The folders listed below 2014 are actually *within* 2014 when viewed within windows explorer.

In side the LR Library module, it looks like the 2014 folder is a parent folder. You should be able to move the sub folders to the 2014 folder within LR. If you have done that outside of LR (in Explorer perhaps), then the question mark would suggest that you need to point LR to those folder and images. Right click on "2014" and look for "find the missing files" and then point it to the volume that contains the photos. Once that is done, you should be able to move those folders to within the 2014 parent folder, doing so all within the LR library module.

I am still having an issue with where LR thinks my files are.

I have a folder called "2013", which has a whole bunch of folders within it. This is the same whether I look at it in LR or in explorer.

In explorer, I have a folder called "2014", which has some subfolders for shoots I have done this month. In LR, it displays the subfolders as top-level folders, and the folder "2014" is marked as empty. I have tried to move the subfolders into this parent folder, but I get a message saying that the files are going to be moved on disk... They are already *there* on the disk.

If I select go ahead anyway, it fails with an 'unknown error' - surely one of the most pointless error messsages known to mankind!

How can I have LR see the files/folders the way they really are? All of these subfolders except the latest, were installed manually by me and then imported from those locations...
I am still having an issue with where LR thinks my... (show quote)

Here is a quick tip from J. Kost for the "show photos in subfolders" option that might help:

Yeah, I knew that the file would be smaller, but I am confused as to why it would show the image smaller too...

LR does compress it's DNG files just a little bit-non-destructively according to Adobe, which would show your picture smaller. It is a lossless compression, which is the best for non-destructive behavior. As far as the compression with LR, I have never seen any degradation of my RAW files because of it. LR also includes the XMP data (sidecar) into the photo, so you don't have a separate data file to manage also.

Here is what the LR team has to say about it:
Lossless compression of the raw data can reduce file size anywhere from 10 to 40% or more. In a completely unscientific test I converted a small folder of Nikon D300 raw files to DNG and the folder went from 243MB to 125MB! You could almost double the number of photos stored on a single drive. I know ‘storage is cheap’ these days but it’s not free!
It provides a documented file structure that can support writing metadata back to the file. (No need for XMP sidecar files)
You can store an updated preview of the image in the DNG file that accurately represents your latest non-destructive rendering settings. I think of it as a job jacket for my images. I have the negative, the processing instructions and a ‘work print’ of how I last processed the image all within a single file.

It seems you may have some configurations set incorrectly. Set the destination to a single folder instead of by date.

This would be correct by brucewells. If the box for "into sub-folder's" is checked then the drop-down menu gives you a choice of by date or into a single folder. If you choose by date, then it will add a sub-folder with the date creating an additional date folder for you. If you are using a Windows based machine, you can use the Windows Explorer to move the files into your storage device prior to importing (probably the same with Mac's Finder). It is a good idea to save your original files (particularly if they are RAW format) in a separate protected location. Then you can import into LR.

A good thing to do is to set up your file structure in your storage drive prior to moving your captured files. LR will see that on the left panel.

Once you have the original "2014" folder set up in LR and everything is going where you want it, then make that a preset for import (Named something like 2014 Import Preset) and the only thing you will need to do when importing is rename and choose the location. The basic premise for LR is that of an organizational software for photographers, so the better organized you are, the easier it will be to keep track of your photos. Of course we all know that LR is a wonderful editor too.

I recently posted about an issue with an SD Card. I have been looking into a replacement card and see basically two "common" brands. SanDisk, the card which recently failed me. And Promaster. Does anyone have any experience with ProMaster cards?

Not used ProMaster cards but have used Lexar Pro without any fails for the past 7 years. Just purchased 2 more 16 gb at 400x from Amazon.

Site is great and the photos are beautiful and beautifully displayed. One little niggle for me is your email and contact info up at the top. The email (6pinkpigs@gmail.com) shows up inside most of the photos. Need to resize or re-position. Other than that and the footer thing mentioned earlier, you have a winner!

Absolutely upgrade. LR 5 is wonderful and has many new features besides the straightening tool. The clone/spot removal tool alone is worth the upgrade. You won't be disappointed.

These are always great (you can submit and maybe even get chosen), but this one with Lindsay Adler is the best I have seen. She is terrific and Scott and Matt didn't have a lot to add because she is just great!
