There's a book of the same name as your title by Peter Jenkins, which I've read...he's written a few sequels to it as well. He met his future wife in the 2nd(?) book. It's a fascinating autobiographical story of his trek, with nothing much more than a backpack a dog traveling from NY to CA by foot. It took him something like 2 or 3 years to do the trip stopping for maybe a month or two at different towns getting a temporary manual labor job to make enough money to continue his journey. He went through great trials and dangers along the way as well as moments of sheer joy. On a different note, I'd like to visit NYC one day.

Interesting about the title. I had trouble with the title and am still not sure the title says what I really mean. Hope you get to NYC at some point it's quite and experience.

Good example of having to wait for the composition to complete itself as envisioned in the mind's eye. Great shot.

Thanks. It was like waiting in a blind. :-)

This was taken from the other side of 8th Ave. It was very busy in Manhattan that day. I saw the eyes in the poster and the surrounding design. I stood there and waited for breaks in the traffic and the right person to come along.

I was walking along the beach and saw something flying into the air in the distance. I wasn't even sure it was water when I first saw it. What was it? Well here's the answer. It's from dredging an area of a nearby inlet. The dredged sand and water go through a long pipe (1/4 mile or so) and come out here, at a drain pipe. There's a lot of water and pressure surging out. It then goes into Long Island Sound. I've put some pictures below.

On the north shore of Long Island. Where is this monstrous water explosion coming from? Answer to follow. Canon 7D; f/10; 235mm; ISO-125; 1/400 sec.

Good shot. I think people get upset if they don't know why you're taking the picture. Most people will be okay if they don't think you have some ulterior motive (I think). :?:

Thanks John. Love the 50mm! Perfect for low light too. So cheap, so light, so great.
