I entered two photos in the recent Photo Competition at the Albany, NY Pine Bush. This was a Juried Photo exhibit with entrants at any age and skill level. There were a total of 93 entries. Thirty-six were selected for printing and hanging on the wall in the visitors center (and subsequent sale). The remaining 57 were printed in a photo book that will be kept in the room where the photos are hung. Five of the 36 hangers were picked as Honorable Mention, and three as category prize winners. They gave one honorable mention to a junior person, two for close-ups and two for landscapes.
The Albany Pine Bush Preserve is a globally rare 3300 acre preserve which is one of the best remaining inland pitch pine-scrub oak barrens in the world. The fire-dependent barrens provides habitat for more than 1500 plant and animal species.
The good news, one of my two photos "Pine Bush Trail" was selected as a wall hanger; the better news, it was an Honorable Mention winner in the landscape category. My other photo "Charred" shows the remnants of one of the burns.
Both photos were taken with a Canon 24-105 f/4 L lens on a Canon 5D4 on a rainy day in October.
