This image was made at 15th of a second with a ND filter in bright sunshine. My Canon 40D was on a tripod. I am trying to put motion in a still image. Comment Please
Motion at Belmont Park
Thanks for the advice. I will try again in different light and at different time of day.
I have been there many times and each time I get more frustrated. there are so many levels to this story. The vandalism, the neglect, and the lives of these dead people.
There are graves with badges indicating that both the husband and wife were holocaust survivors. There is a grave with fresh American Flag that indicates the resting place of a WW War 1 Veteran, This is a vast subject and I don't know how to depict it with photographs.
I like the noise too. What I can't figure out is how to how the beauty and mystery of this old and neglected cemetery. do I concentrate on shooting small things like headstones and wild flowers among the graves? What is the best way to do it? It is a worthy subject bur SO HARD TO DO JUSTICE TO.

I need to know how to depict this story in a better manor. My instinct is to use close up shots of the various things that I am seeing. Is that how you guys see this subject?
I have been to this cemetery many times because I find it quite beautiful. However I never know how to photograph it in a way that tells the story of the generations that have passed and perhaps no longer remembered. These are three of my 40 images from the other day. I would welcome any suggestions and help with this difficult but beautiful topic.

This is a beautiful image. I love the expression. Thanks for sharing
Nice shots. I am wondering if anyone else, other than me, is having difficulty shooting candid photos in the streets. I am finding that people just don't want to be photographed anymore. children are particularly hard to photograph.
I bought the 100mm because 1) it was on eBay and not too expensive--2) 100mm is the perfect size for portraits. This actually gives me two uses for the lens.
Thank you. the other way that I do flowers is with a blurred background. I use a 300 mm lens, as close as I can focus and get the beautiful backgrounds that the macro does not give me
with a long lens and with a 1 add on
Not too many insect out today but I have never seen as many beautiful flowers in bloom as I saw today. I think it has something to do with our late spring. All done with Canon 100mm macro and a tripod. Just slight crop and a bit of tweaking in elements
I just did an advanced photo course with a very good, experienced teacher. She gave all of us the assignment to shoot the same image at every possible f.stop and shutter speed setting that our DIGITAL CAMERAS could handle. This exercise amounts to the same logical use as setting exposure on film camera. It does teach principles of exposure control. I don't think that film is needed to learn these things. Why get into another level when you intend to only shoot digital. I grew up with film but don't see the need to use it now.
What I love about your work is how the eyes of the cats look. They are beautiful. My animal pictures are nothing like yours. I do live near The Atlantic and have been doing
slow motion pictures of the ocean for some time. Let me know what you think. I would value your opinion.
Before Sandy
Hi, I finally was told how to do this. It actually worked. Now I can send pictures
