I am hunting for an al ternative to PHOTO; perhaps the older app Windows Photo Viewer. I came across this: Does anyone know what the bottom APP is?

OK, I don't have the problem myself, nor a Win11 box at this house. If others have had what seems like this problem before (ref Apr 2023), likely others will be having the problem too, possibly with still other 'successful' resolutions. Keep looking.

Two points: 1- If you're (that's a generic "You're) not the type of person who looks at the Details tab regularly you may not realize the info is gone. 2- Not to be able to see the info easily is more of an annoyance than a critical problem. As a matter of fact, when I first noticed it, I put it on my "To Do" list to fix. My thought at that time was that there was a setting to be changed ... no big deal. I will continue to look. Thank you all for trying to assist me.

windows 11 not showing jpep properties

The suggestion was confirmed back by the OP as fixing what seems to be your same problem, the simple steps (make sure you're in an ADMIN cmd window):

From admin Command Prompt, run:

regsvr32 photometadatahandler.dll

You should see the following output:

DllRegisterServer in photometadatahandler.dll succeeded.

Log off and log back in.

Yes I was in Admin. mode. After following the command inx. and getting the response expected, I exited DOS, closed any open programs and restarted my computer. When the computer restarted the problem was still present. I don't doubt that making sure the DLL line is present in my library was a good idea. There is probably another line somewhere in the registry that is incorrect or missing.

Really puzzling as it shows on one computer and not another.......

May a file (extension) association difference on the affected computer?

It's not puzzling. One computer has a register that doesn't have a problem. The other computer has a register with a problem. I tried the other computer to verify that the missing information was actually present, and it was.

I don't use Windows, but is more information available when selecting the General tab?

It's difficult to show what is not there so let me put it this way. Look at the attachment. See all of the blank space? There should be information in that empty space.

I've never had that problem.
Have you re-booted the computer?
I suggest shut down, count to ten, turn on.

Thank you. I have re-booted my computer several different ways.
I googled the problem and found that it has happened to other people but
I haven't found a solution yet.
I cannot list everything that I have tried and that is why I have concluded
it is a registry setting that got screwed up. I'm not going in there without
expert guidance.

The details of my photos (shutter speed, ISO, aperture, etc is no longer being shown.
The information exists, I can see it on another computer, it is just no longer being shown in the DETAILS Tab of my computer.
SEE ATTACHMENT of Details Tab
I have tried all sorts of setting everywhere I could think of, to no avail. I'm guessing
a recently installed program or app has changed something in the registry. Is there
anyone who has ever encountered this situation out there.
I am thinking of re-installing Windows 11 / looking for an alternative to PHOTOS

Just Fred!

I hate to be a Killjoy but check out this short video:

https://www.amazon.com/live/video/06122d4090004168bd59683e76796300?ref_=asvh_vdp

I fell for a similar scam a few years ago when 512GB was considered a deal! Worked fine until files started approaching the one-third to one-half mark and then the files began to get corrupted and/or disappeared.
This sounds too good to be true, similar to my case in the past, as similar San Disk drives are three times the cost.
I've seen such warnings on YouTube but these scams continue.

Be well! Ed

The solution is .... stick to the many well known brands. Yah, they may cost more, so how much is peace of mind worth?

All three are great images. #1 and #2 are great compositions that obviously required much planning and patience and luck to capture. But #3 is a story in progress. Who won, leopard or antelope? After getting the shot, I might have whistled to give the antelope a heads up. But then again, my supper wasn't on the line.

The cheetah didn't get the gazelle. The chase was amazing and impossible to photograph with the long lens I was using. The zig-zags of the chase were lightning fast - a wide angle might have caught them.

If you can't see the picture, you can't take it. Here are three photos that I could see but had to wait for. I have been perusing my trips and found these. I can remember each one even though they were taken several years ago.

Mara just before sunrise. I could not remember if it was sunset or sunrise, I had to look back at the series for the answer.

The rear seat folded down and the divider (between the interior and the trunk) also folded down. This yielded about 8ft. of virtually flat space. My friend and I drove from NY to FL, taking turns driving. When I wasn't driving I went to sleep on an air mattress layed out full lenght on the right side and luggage was placed on the left - room galore!

My first car?

1963 Studebaker Hawk GT R3. 289 c.i. Paxton blower. Purchased 1964. Sold 1974.

Great car. Not great brakes. Front disks (Girling) non-vented solids needed a better power booster.
Same color (“champagne gold”) as photo (not MY car!)

The Hawk was a great looking car; it would still look good today.
