It's funny. Of all the pictures that my Mom took of me (she was "the one" that got me into photography) from birth on, she never took a picture of my favorite bicycle or my first car. I'd always wished that I had both, but...
Long story short, I ran across this (taken from the internet) not too long ago and it was like seeing an old friend. On my limited budget I was able to buy some "Port-O-Walls" (from J.C. Whitney") and I always had "pine tree" deodorizers hanging from the rear view mirror. This is identical to mine right down to the "not very shiny" grill. Stick six and three on the tree and it didn't burn much oil. I had the skirts, but liked it better without. Fun times!!

I was lucky, both my parents took some photos.

I guess I did have a tricycle, but no photos of that.

My very 1st "car" was actually a train.

Lucky you, Kim. You've got pics of the "big" three. Now, that I think about it I don't have any of my trike, which was run over in our neighbor's driveway. I do have my first pedal car, at least.
Was the pic of your nice looking Chevy taken in the mid 60's? Looks like a mid 60's Pontiac and an early Corvair across the street. Should'a kept that Chevy.

I had a 1953 2dr sedan. Cream white bottom and dark green top. I had seats covers made in a cream white with a green top. Then I painted the fabric headliner with white latex paint.
I used Butylrubber recaps.

My 1st car was. 57 Chevy BelAir 2dr hardtop, black outside, black gray inside, 283ci… bored to 301 when previous owner had the engine “hopped up”… he also converted automatic to stick w/floor shift… if I were smart… I would still have it

My wife’s 1st car was same/similar model but similar to the top you show that same green all over. It did burn oil… lots of it. She couldn’t afford the oil so a friend with a garage let her get oil drained from other cars.

My first car was a 1951 Hudson, my second a 1952 Chev hardtop much like the one in the photo. My first motorized vehicle was a 1949 John Deere H. It didn't run when I bought it for $15 when I was 12 or 13. Spent 3 summers dismantling it and reassembling. Had a total of $45 in it by then, sold it for $50. Learned a lot with that experience. New piston rings, new gaskets and I don't recall what else. The JD H was gone by the time I got into cars.

I'm 74 and my first road car was a '48 Dodge 4-dr Deluxe with the visor, suicide doors and fluid drive transmission. I had a '38 Pontiac Business Coupe before that, but very limited road time.

I love the old pictures. Thanks for sharing. My parents didn't take many photos either. I got interested in photography when I was lucky to get a part-time job in Korvette's department store in the photography department when I was 19. I worked full-time and then evenings at Korvette's. My children probably have a thousand photos documenting their lives every little step of the way. I always took photos of my cars. My first car was a '62 Chevy Impala SS all black convertible. I borrowed $500 from my father to buy that car. My favorite was my 1966 Triumph Spitfire, color was British Racing Green.

Was this what your interior looked like? Mine did. Identical.
The center of the steering wheel and the chrome script from the dashboard are all I have to remember my Chevy.
