Interesting. A few of those are close to where I live. Pollepel Island is in the Hudson River near Beacon, NY. Bannerman's Castle is no longer there in its entirety; only the foundation remains.

A few months ago, I was out walking by an abandoned factory near my home (I live about 80 miles north of NYC, rural farmland area). I had my tripod over my shoulder when I heard some call out, "hey, wanna take my picture?". It was a young man named Franklin who wanted a decent pic of his car to post to instagram. I obliged and this was the result. Comments welcome!

FWIW, I recently bought a 7D (classic) as a backup to my 5D MKII. I absolutely love it and find myself reaching for it more then the 5D. Can be found used on Amazon or eBay in the $650 range.
