We also are dealing with issues, like Malkin.

A few years back, my wife and I were at the Finger Lakes. We called a local brewpub and asked if the playoff game (Pens v Wings) would be on a tv there at the bar. When we arrived, the bartender informed us that there is usually a couple, formerly from Detroit, that watches the games there because they don't even own a tv. Sure enough, they showed up sitting next to us. By all of our attires, there was no guessing who everyone was cheering for. This is not an issue for us, as sports and beer were all about having fun to us. I introduce us, we talk, I even buy a round of beers. They were a nice couple, although quite subdued as the Pens were in charge most of the time. Their personalities switched with the momentum of the game. The Wings came back and won, and they had become quite rude.

It's not like I needed another reason to hate the Wings.

Well, for the record pigpen, I don't hate you :). You guys have a great team in Pittsburgh and I'll say it even though you spoiled the fun in 09'. Fans can get a little too invested in their team sometimes regardless of the city or team. Good luck to you guys, unless we meet in the playoffs, then all bets are off! :D

Totally false. And you're not even including the many boondoggles by his wife and children.

OK, what sources do you sight to back up your statement. After researching it a bit more I'm willing to concede that he travels As Much as recent presidents not less if you measure days away from the oval office. I typically get my supporting data from factcheck.org and CNN among others.

Coincidentally, Laura Bush took way more trips than Michele Obama. http://www.ntu.org/governmentbytes/7-9-13-first-lady-international-flights-vacations.html

If a presidential trip costs twenty five million dollars and you divide that by one hundred and forty million tax payers these important trips cost less than twenty cents per tax payer. These trips are necessary to bolster support and alliances. I think they are a good investment.

I started watching them in 1988 when we finally got cable and I was able to watch on TV. It's been one heck of a ride.

I think its funny how us sports fans put up with so much disappointment and still put our hearts on the line with our team. As good as the Wings have been in the last twenty five years or so, they've only won the cup four times. Of course that's more than any of the other teams but it's still a pretty low percentage. But, I'm afraid I can't help myself.

Facts People. Obama is among the least traveled presidents in the last fifty years. Less than "W." Look it up.

These trips are about creating good will and building alliances. Every President in the last one hundred years has done the same. Most of the money spent covers security and logistics. It's not like the Obama's are out on a shopping spree.

You might make it out of Boston, but your trip will end in Pittsburgh.

If Pittsburgh makes it out of the first round :D. Seriously, the fact that Detroit made the playoffs this year is quite an accomplishment. If Babcock isn't named the couch of the year this year there is no justice.

Macro is one thing that most of the big manufacturers do well. I chose the Sigma 105mm for my 5DM3 but the Tamron, Tokina, and of course the Canon would have been just as good. I would suggest buying the 100mm (ish) length as a minimum because it will give you more space to work with.

I would leave the "in camera" aspect ratio alone and do your cropping in post processing. That way you get all of the image to work with and can trim away what you don't want.

Beautiful shot. You have the tubes coming in from the corners and the angle of the shot makes it dynamic. On this shot I think centered valves are just fine. I love the tones and detail, good choice of background. Maybe add some yellow tones to age the mother of pearl and mute it just a bit.

Nice shot.

Thanks for the article Geff, it was quite informative.

The way I see it, Chavez was about as anti-american as you can get and was certainly boisterous about it but for all of the bluster he was held to be largely irrelevant. Yes, he found an ally in Putin and yes he is equipping an army with Russian arms but that is a far cry from establishing a Russian military base. I can understand Russia's interest in developing a relationship with Venezuela and I'm not saying its impossible but I think it unlikely Maduro would take that risk. Besides, if Russia really wanted to build a base why wouldn't they do it in Cuba. I can't think of anything that Venezuela has to offer that long time ally Cuba doesn't besides oil and Russia has plenty of that.

He is referring to the Cuban Missile Crisis which occurred during the Kennedy administration. The fact is that Russia has been selling arms to Venezuela for some years now, there have been multi billion dollar arm sales and it would make sense that Russia would go further with the alliance especially if the US bolsters the missile defenses of the Baltic NATO members after having scratched that plan during Obama's first term. Iran also has arms factories in Venezuela and has had them there for some years, Venezuela hosts military from Iran, Cuba, and probably Russia. It takes little imagination to think that Putin would put Naval ships there, Maduro would certainly be a welcoming partner for Putin in this hemisphere.

Hey Geff, I know there are problems with some of our southern neighbors but I just don't see any of them getting that cozy with Russia, even Venezuela. Maduro's got enough problems without courting the ire of the US. Just my opinion though.
