Glad you enjoyed it is a favourite place even though I come from Sydney. It is so worth the drive.

Thank you for those shots. As a Aussie who grew up in Melbourne and who hiked many of those areas (about 60 years ago, am now 94 years old and my hiking days are over) it was an nostalgic experience for me to see those views. I am living in Raleigh, NC with a strong interest in photography in my retirement years.

I have the newest A65 still a Sony because of all the extra expensive lens I have. It was just easier to keep to the same. Wow that looks impressive and so out of my budget.........dreaming now..

Just think, Karenn, what you could do with the full frame, 42 mp, A7Rii camera instead of the DSl 300! Good shots, just kidding. It is a budget discussion of some magnitude and shifts from dslr to digital leaf shutter but an excellent camera by all repute. I'd like one to travel with but wayyyyyyy too expensive.

The sunlight shots through the trees are really, really nice. I liked the two vehicles fording the stream as well. Thanks for sharing. Goodday to you!

This area is a favourite place of mine to visit. We have had four 2 week holidays here over the years, camping, sightseeing and 4 x 4 driving with family and friends. As you can see it is a magic place, worth repeat visits. We have gone back to some favourite spots but each visit has been to a new area experiencing wild horses, mountain huts, views, drives, challenging tracks. I will post more on the huts later as they are very interesting in themselves. **** (I had trouble tonight) There were many photo's in portrait view that rotated to Landscape that I wanted to post. I had to delete them. Does anyone know why. ???

Beautiful work and stunning forms. I have taken this type of photo using a sheet and wasn't happy with the creases or folds. Using white is great but next time I am using white paper or cardboard to see if it improves the result. I teach and make ceramic work and are very impressed with your forms and the two tone timber used. Lovely.

A brief history of how I got started in woodworking (my main expensive hobby). I was an application programmer working for a company that owned and operated portrait studios, mostly at WalMarts in the US, Mexico, Canada and, briefly, in Germany. I did some image processing coding that was a lot of fun and relates to photography, my second expensive hobby.

The company (Portrait Corporation of America - PCA) went belly-up in 2008, in large part because of the digital revolution in the photography world. At about the same time, I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, so I figured there was someone up there telling me it was time to retire, even though I was only 60. Luckily, I got SS-Disability approved pretty quickly and have a very supportive spouse who is an RN (and an extremely thrifty person), so retirement is working out pretty well.

Mostly I do segmented wood turnings. Here are a few examples. Comments are welcome, either on aesthetic or technical issues. I am still getting the hang of shooting this type of photo, so I am interested in pointers on issues such as lighting, shadows, hotspots, and getting the whole piece in focus.

Yes the bed is usually filled with cushions but it had been raining that day. The good things out way the bad things and we haven't seen many snakes to worry us. Got some great shots of huge spiders though.

Lucky people, enjoy the fruits of your labours. Is that a part of Australia with lots of nasty things to be wary of, or can safely doze off on the swing bed without a care in the world.

I think I want to keep it to ourselves. We do have some big groups coming for camping and the 4 x 4 driving experience. Also some photographers and shooters from time to time. But I like to get there when we can/want and depending on work we usually have 4-5 day trips at a time..

And I thought that I lived in paradise. Had no idea that Australia had so much beauty. Spent a month in Alice Springs at the 'you know what' place. Currently I live atop the BlueRidge at the easternmost tip of WVA. Hint you might make more money renting it as a getaway. And with your expertise of the area, include a guide book for photographers. It might even include guides on where the best pics are for each season.

We are 3 and half hours from home and try to get here every 3 weeks/or once a month. We have recently finished building the side veranda for protection from the wind and much needed shade in Summer. We over look the Lachlan River and Wyangala Dam and spend many hours driving, exploring our beautiful countryside. The terrain is very mountainous with steep tracks to test any four wheel drive. Of course it is a great place to take photos and spend time with family and friends.

Saw this Hawk while kayaking today. Most of the Hawks around here (North Carolina) are Red Tailed Hawks but if that is what this is it much be a juvenile because it does not have a red tail. Suggestions please.
