I rented one of these mirrorless cameras with a 24-240 zoom just to try it out. Didn't like the feel of it, the e-viewfinder was awful and the noise when taking a picture was unpleasant.

I was hoping to save several pounds with smaller gear, but it just isn't for me-yet.

I was reading the review of the 24-240 lens this morning. It's a travel lens and as it covers such a range there are compromises.

Basically the review stated at 24mm F8 it was amazingly sharp but soft at 240mm and F11 needed. It's not the best lens to get the most out of the A7r.

I have the A7s. It's an amazing camera. It does feel a bit 'cheap' build wise compared to my Oly EM1 but it does the job.

I've heard nothing but praise for the Sony A7 ii. I may well buy another A7 or whatever they call it. The lenses are coming out for it thick and fast now and are superb.

You either love or hate EVF's. I love them. It's a shame you didn't like the A7 but we all like/dislike various things.

I think you're the only one I've read of that hated it. I read complaints of the loud shutter but that was it.

DJI Inspire and Phantom are probably the market leaders.

You get what you pay for!

There is a learning curve and whichever you buy you will need to consider safety at all times - they can induce heart attacks sometimes!!!!!

I still have the RX100 m2 with external viewfinder.

It's an amazing little pocket camera with super image quality.

It'll be interesting to see how they improve this leaf shutter camera - I'd love 5 axis IBIS as they have in the A7r ii but it may be a wish too far!

It is normal to see 0 as EXIF

The lenses are non electronic and as such no data is transmitted.

I have the A7s and use Voigtlander and samyang lenses with same result.

Do you mean switching off the rear view monitor?

I currently have an HP Photosmart 6520, but I am unsatisfied with the color and quality of prints it produces. The colors are off, as in, skin tones seem to have a slightly yellowish or orange cast to them, and when printing 8x10's, it leaves horizontal bars across the printed image. The images also seem to be on the fuzzy side. So I am considering a different printer. The Canon PIxma MG7120 has been suggested to me as being a reasonably priced ($203.00) printer that produces decent quality prints. I only do prints for personal and family purposes, and have no intention of entering any photo contests. I just want decent quality prints. Thanks.

Over the years I have had all the makes of printer.

For past 3 years I have been on a Canon and it beats all the others hands down easily!. So reliable and easy to use. The inks are easy to insert and no problems with non canon brand.

I have the 5 ink version and print photos for myself to frame - sometimes on canvas and it does a very good job for an mid range model.

All the other printers have been problematic but I can't believe I have had no problems and it runs so well. I use it quite a bit too.

Highly recommended printer whichever Canon model you go for.

I believe it will be a similar size to the Sony RX100m3 but with an optical 30 times zoom.

Downside is the F stop is 3.5 onwards as you zoom.

Due out in next month or so. This came from a lady in my local camera shop. Unless you need the zoom the RX100 will probably be better with the faster glass.

The A6000 is a pretty good camera. It feels a little cheap and the position of the SD card slot is a pain but, with the 16-50 and 55-210 lenses it is something of a best buy.

The 16-50 is okay and extends out as soon as you switch on the camera. The 55-210 is very good and I have used it on my Sony A7 (full frame)and am pleased. The 16-50 works fairly well on the 6000 and I'd be inclined to pay slightly more and get the two lenses with the camera.

The A7000 is due out this year and the price of the A6000 with two lens kit will fall....but even now it probably the best bang for the bucks camera on the market!

I have an EM1 with a Manfrotto tripod and head. No issues, but my camera is only about 6 months old.

It'll be time for an upgrade soon then!

Depends what Olympus camera you have.

When I had the EM5 I always just used the top part of the battery grip. It's not needed on the EM1

They're cheap enough so no harm done......but I use my Oly cameras extensively on a tripod and have never had an issue. I use a Rollei ball head which only has two knobs - one for locking in the base plate and the other for 360 degree movement - great in the dark when there's not an abundance of knobs to adjust as with many other ballheads.

I have it and no problems.

The de-noise can sometimes be slower to save but it is a problem with your computer and not the program.

Ideally you need 8GB RAM and a good processor. It might be a good idea to upgrade if you haven't a lot of RAM.

There is so much available online, including good videos. I have quite a few instructional DVD's I should watch, too.

I do have to cut back, and I have been spending less time here. I still have to repair the wall I had to cut to thaw a frozen pipe. I have painting to do, the garage to clean out - the list goes on.

I see that I'm up to 45,000 posts! At a dollar a post, I'd be rich! Must - cut - back. :D

All things photographic become addictive! There's always jobs to do.

Right. I'm letting my two expire, since I seldom read them. I was surprised to see that our local library doesn't carry either Outdoor Photographer or Pop Photo. As you said, there's plenty available online.

There's no need for mag subscriptions, etc., as it's all on line - mostly free!
