Great set! It is like the pelican is posing for you. #2 is my favorite.

Looks like things are working well for you. Aside from your personable, photographic, granddaughter, the lighting is great as well as your neutral background.

Thank you for posting these. They are awesome shots. I have a 13 year old geometry student who is obsessed with musical instruments and kookaburra birds. I will have to show her your pictures.

I went to Costa Rica in June with my Nikon D90. I was a little paranoid about bringing my camera, and I only brought my 18-55 mm lens. I got many amazing pictures, including macros with this lens. However, I really wish I would have brought my zoom lens. I recommend that you bring a zoom lens. The flash on your camera will be good enough. There will be areas where you will be asked not to use your flash. I attached some pix that I took with the 18-55 lens to show you my limitations.

Wow! Nice set. My favorites are #3 and #9. I love the way #9 has the detail in the distance.

Nice image, but why bother with HDR? Just a little tweeking with highlights and contrast gives almost same effect.

Accually, I just wanted to try HDR. I agree that a little tweeking makes for a better photo. I am on the "a photograph should not look like a painting" side. I still take pride in taking a good picture. However, it is fun to play and create artsy images. Some of the transitions into Artsy that are posted on this site are amazing. #2 is hanging on my wall. My daughter (21) wants an overcooked HDR for her wall.

Thanks for the comment. ;o)

This is my first attempt at HDR with other effects using PSC6. The original photo was taken by my daughter with a point and shot camera. Picture #2 has a little editing on the right side of the temple. Picture #3 is the HDR using Photomatix Pro. Picture #4 is the card - I think it needs a little work.

I think you got the effect you wanted. The eyes do look identical. I can see why your daughter likes it. :-)

I really like this one (the 3rd picture on the page). The color is just right, and you didn't over process. She looks real.

Nice photo, especially for spur of the moment.

I prefer the original catch lights and feel your new background color is distracting. Not sure what color would be best. Also, there is a bluish cast to the whole photo and the new background accentuates that. Warm it up a bit. You done a nice job in softening the skin and have not gone over the top.

Wendy thanks for your thoughts. I tried several colors for the background and to me this is the only one I could live with. I don't see the blue tint on my monitor.

I had to share this with my husband. It really made me laugh. We have both PCs and MACs in the house and we get these kind of comments all the time about the MACs. The reason we have the MACs is because they don't need all the virus protection. I like the PC because it is less expensive and easy to fix. However, I do use a MACbook Pro for photo editing. When it comes to programs, I go for the free ones first. My son-in-law suggested Photomatic Pro for doing HDR, and it works great, is easy to use, and is free. ;o) Save money, and try the free program first!

OK, here is the way I see it. It may seem a little sarcastic but never the less....since you have an apple computer then it stands to reason that you buy the most expensive pprogram you can find.

Well I guess I took too long playing with your picture, but it was good practice for me. Here is my version. I just bought photoshop CS6 a copy of weeks ago and it was fun working on your picture.

Thank you so much for this. I just got Photoshop CS6, and I was wondering how to do this. This saves me hours of playing around.

I love this picture and the way you cropped it. I get quail in my yard all the time, but I can never get close enough to get any great pictures. One day, I will get up early and quietly wait for them to wonder in the yard.

Thanks for posting this.

The clouds add an awesome effect to the framing of the bridge. Very nice set.
