Good shot of the pelican. The bird is overexposed. Play with the image a little and see if you can bring the detail out more, without bringing too much noise into it. I think it would look great on metal.

What do you call a Pelican that can't swallow a fish? A pelican't!

The OP is poised to disprove your unhappy comment about "AF lenses of today".

As to your choice of old MF lenses for street, plenty of us agree on that. But any compact AF lens with a halfway usable focusing scale can also hold its own for street.

An AF lens without a focus scale depends on the feature set of the camera body to make prefocus or zone focus feasable.

Lets not ignore that theres plenty of street environments where normal AF operation works perfectly with a "short normal" lens such as the OPs new 40. See attached for Worst Case Scenario ... meaning "iphone".

Just my opinion but someday I'll get something for my "Z" mount in 50mm that compares to my adapted "F". Of course I'm shooting at "Full spectrum to 720nm" so this is a problem with ALL AF systems with their inability to focus quickly and maintain the focus. Yes, I did calibrate my "50" for "Full Spectrum" and at distances beyond 6' it works well but at close distances there is a focus problem.

Yes, they have made silk looking purses but that's not the subject here. Grayscale is grayscale and not anything else even though they all have each other. at 830-850nm you only get grayscale if you keep it pure but the color of the rainbow is just that.

Serious for the moment. See if you can get someone knowledgeable to check all outlets for possible breaks. This may show up potential problem areas. We had a lightning bolt strike years ago in which the breakers worked like a charm, but did have to replace a lot of electronics that did not survive the jolt.

Any time you have a lightning strike on a home or business expect some problems. I have seen brakers fused and other times nothing at all. Be safe and not sorry, I learned by my own mistakes and paid a heavy price in equipment.

OK, yes, I use a "nifty fifty" when street shooting but it's an old lens and Manual focus. The AF lenses of today don't cut it.

Some will remember that I recently had a problem with my Microwave oven, after burning another one up.
My neighbor was busy helping his daughter off in another town (moving, I think) and the next night after he got home, he came and looked at it, couldn't find anything wrong with it. Next day, the lights started flickering and the light in my computer room made a LOUD pop and blew out. Kitchen lights went out too. I went out to check the breaker and it was tripped. When I reset it, the breaker popped and everything blew out. The next day, it was already getting dark but he came and checked everything. He didn't find anything in the dark. No electricity for 2 days. He came back to check something outside and said Call Alabama Power. When I called them, he took the phone and told them the service entry cable was broken, hanging by a very thing string and had already been spliced 3 times...I needed a new line run. That fixed some of it but then he found that the breaker to the kitchen was bad and replaced it. Before, the microwave smoked after 30 seconds. I finally tried it again this morning and it didn't smoke.
None of it makes sense to me but it's not supposed to me. I ever really wanted to know anything about electricity. Scares me to death!!!!
Just though I'd let you all know the outcome.
Thank you all for your suggestions and efforts to help. Very much appreciated.

When we received some much needed rain, I gave my wife yet another reason to have me committed. I took my camera and went to the front garden to record the rain on the flowers. The light, for some reason (LOL), was poor, but the colors came through.

Comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Water or the essence of it or floral is great, I like yours.

Personally, I would never print a photo on canvas, but that's me. It seems to be all the rage today, even for crappy phone selfies.

I have only a couple of metal prints, one being a butterfly that I thought looked good on glossy metal.

Been seeing grayscale printed directly to foamcore. Looks to be around 266 to 300 ppi? not sure but it looks good and cheep. Not saying to do this with presentation or works for sale or hanging but for a display of what you have and do it may be the new way to go.

MAC vs Windows is a Pepsi vs Coke thing. I have an iPhone for work and personally use an Android and old Samsun Note 9 but it still does what I need. ASUS and ACER are good. I have a DELL for work but it's a lower to mid-grade machine as it costs more for a better CPU and more Memory. Most important what are your specifications and budget? If you want to keep the MAC then go to YouTube and find instructions (if you want) Steve Jobs was a great salesman. I used to drink both Coke and Pepsi and eventually started drinking Coke exclusively. There are many ways to store your photos, but hard drive arrays are expensive. There is Cloud storage which is not cheap either. I would suggest checking all avenues for pricing because sometimes you get better prices for shopping unless the company price fixes. Yes I know its illegal to fix a price but MFRs set a suggest retail price and on occasion offer their product for less and if a store sells it for a lower price that company will no longer sell to them.

Has anyone ever produced a really good pancake lens? It seems all the ones I've ever seen just rate ok, not excellent. I would like to have a very good copy of one of these to do street photography with. In the z system, even the 50mm looks like a short telephoto and is more lens than I would like to show when doing discrete shooting.

Use a "nifty fifty" all the time when street shooting.

I want to add more 'pop' to my blsack & white photographs. The processing program that I use has the sliders for the various colours but once employed they do not impact the images greatly or should I say sufficiently. Would I be better served by purchasing a set of colour filters?
Thank you in advanc e for your consideration of this topic and any responses that you can offer.

Also, try Orange, really "pops".

I use color filters (RGB) all the time when shooting in 830nm. I can see a positive difference in the captured image compared to the processed one, but it's baked in and can't be removed without artifacts. Cheers.

I agree too. But more is that small cameras get better travel pictures because they are less obtrusive.
