There is a cheap one by Neewer for 30 bux on Amazon; I have one and it has worked flawlessly for more than a year. I see they have appears identical for 5 bux cheaper, also. It isn't hugely powerful, but it's perfect for Macro having 3 brightness levels.
Well, it's no less beautiful for my being wrong, and you were very skillful at all that other stuff instead.
Here's one more: Ditto the congrats!
Beautiful! Did you you use one of the AutoFX products? If so you did it very skillfully.
Thanks to all who wrote to agree that pop ups are a pain. The first advice I took was to swap out Ad Blocker for AdBlock+. Pop ups have almost disappeared, but the 'Back' and 'Forward' arrows have stopped working! I have no idea what the connection is (or is the timing just malevolent fate?) but in any case I'm engaged in a fight to the finish.

Thanks for all your advice and comments. I'll be practicing this weekend, lotsa hours.
Well, I misread (under-read?) your message (again), and I can see why that makes you a little bit testy, and I'll try not to do it again. That seems to be happening to me more frequently. Most of the people I see often are pretty used to it, and seem to bear up under the irritation.
First, I wasn't listing cameras: I was quoting word for word what the B&H description said about the flash and the softbox, so you could judge their suitability to my camera/lens combination. Then I forgot to tell you my camera/lens combination. Here it is now: Canon T4i with Sigma 105 2.8 Macro, latest version.
I can certainly understand if my frequent faux pas create a certain disinclination to continue this dialog, and I free you from any and all guilt if you do so. Thanks for what you have done so far.
Sorry, didn't at first recognize that this is a question. Yongnuo YN-565 EX TTL Flash Speedlite Canon 5D II 7D ,30D ,40D, 50D ,350D, 400D ,450D ($115) and 6 x 8" in. (15 x 20 cm) Collapsible Softbox Light Modifier for On - Camera / Off - Camera DSLR Flash gun Nikon Speedlight ($7.39). There is an 'ETTL' model listed, but it's 40 bucks more and I can't even figure out how it's better, so I said the heck with it.
Well, if it's good enough for you, it is for me, too. Just ordered one tonight.
Great! Just what I needed to know for a base to set up my new Yungnao flash and softbox. Just one, little-bitty more item, if you have a minute: what was your magnification ratio (r lens distance)? I'm reluctant to be such a pest but you are saving me SO much fiddling time ...
Many thanks in advance ... Dick McCartney
Just another 'Congrats' here. Your lighting was exquisite; assuming the use of flash, would you call out the particulars?
Thanks!
Thanks to all who replied. I'll be spending a lot of today putting into effect a lot of your suggestions.
Is anybody else infuriated and/or disgusted by the pop-up ads that have taken over the internet? The other dayI went into Chrome settings to see if somehow I had unchecked 'Anti pop up' but no; it was still on. Guess what took over the page while I was doing this? Yep. Anybody know of anti-popup software that works?
Ditto all the congrats! That's a lovely set!
